[SHOT 2023] New Optics Coming from Shield Sights

On day three of SHOT Show 2023 we visited Shield Sights who ran us through their host of new and upcoming models. Shield have four optics on the way, the CQS2, the AMS, the SIS2 and the RMSd.

New RMSd coming from Shield Sights (Matt Moss/TFB)

The RMSd is a new parallax-free red dot pistol optic with a hard dip acrylic coating which Shield say allows the lens to withstand up to ten times greater shock impact. The RMSd is designed without a red reflective filter on the lens to ensure a minimal visual signature and the sight body is made from aerospace-grade aluminum with an anodized matte black finish. Variable intensity drive circuit that senses target light levels and controls LED output giving optimum visibility of the dot against the target. The RMSd fits all mounts readily available for the earlier Shield Mini Sight and earlier RMS models. The RMSd has a side-accessible battery drawer for a 3V CR1632 lithium battery. The side drawer allows you to change the battery without having to unmount the sight. The RMSd will be available later this year, find out more here.

The SIS2 or Switchable Interface Sight 2.0 is a product improvement over Shield’s earlier SIS and is designed for pistol calibre carbines, rifles and submachine guns. It has 4 switchable reticules, a new 12-level manual brightness adjustment with 3 night vision levels, the optic is fully enclosed and Nitrogen seals and is submersible up to 30. The SIS2 will also offer 3 battery size options with a maximum of 13,000 hours from a CR2050 battery. The reticles will include a 2 MOA dot, a 2 MOA dot with a ring, an 8 MOA dot and an 8 MOA dot and ring. Find out more here.

New AMS from Shield Sights (Matt Moss/TFB)

The new AMS or Advanced Mini Sight is a fully enclosed multi-reticle pistol sight which offers co-witnessing capabilities with standard height iron sights. Powered by a CR2050 battery, like the SIS2, it offers 13,000 hours of battery life. It weighs in at 1.3 ounces and combines design features from the SIS and RMSw. It has the same 4 reticle options and 12 brightness levels as the SIS2. The AMS is coming soon, find out more here.

Finally, for 2023 Shield are introducing a civilian sports market version of their Close Quarter Battlesight designed for the British Army. The CQS (Close Quarter Sportsight) has a new aerospace grade aluminum body, powered by a choice of three batteries – CR2025, CR2032 and CR2050, and offers multiple reticle choices available 2 MOA , 4 MOA , 8 MOA and 65/2 MOA ring and dot.
