POTD: Mannlicher 1897/1901 Carbine

Sometimes the purpose of TFB’s Photo Of The Day is to share the latest news with our readers, sometimes we present interesting firearms from the pre-digital age like this Mannlicher 1897/1901 carbine with its lovely wooden forend.

The pictures are from Mr. Spuhr, and here’s his caption:
Lovely piece! Mannlicher 1897/1901 carbine in 7,65 Mannlicher with 12” barrel, made for South America.
This is based out of a 1896 Mannlicher pistol and it’s made by SIG. It’s really nice to see how they made a decent long forend in contrast to todays carbine that have ultrashort ugly forends that really should have been at least 2-3 times as long as they are.
According to Armemuseum this probably lacks cultural historical value, as well as the rest of my collection.
