Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was demolished on Wednesday evening by former supporters.
The congresswoman was speaking at a Q&A in a sparsely populated room of Bronxdale High School when a protester confronted her about her support for nuclear war and Ukrainian Nazis.
One of the protesters, Joe Vega, tweeted a video of the confrontation and wrote, “my friend @Noggatone and I confronted Congresswoman @AOC on her support for Nuclear War and Ukrainian Nazis. I call her out for being a coward in the face of the party that will push us all into Nuclear war right now. Will she stand up like @TulsiGabbard and fight for peace?”
The demonstrators were upset that the alleged “outsider” progressive has been supporting arms packages for Ukraine and marching in lockstep with the more hawkish members of her party.
“Tulsi Gabbard, she’s left the Democratic Party because they are war hawks,” the concerned citizen shouted. “You ran as an outsider! Yet, you’ve been voting to start this war in Ukraine.”
He continued to blast her for voting to start a World War with China and Russia.
“Why are you playing with the lives of American citizens?” he demanded. “You’re playing with our lives!”
At this point, the second demonstrator jumped in to assert that there will be “no neighbors if there is a nuclear bomb.”
“You voted to mobilize and send money to Ukrainian Nazis!” he demanded. “You’re a coward!”
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez could be seen in the video attempting to calm the situation, but the two protesters would not relent.
Others could also be heard shouting at her throughout the event, which you can watch in full here:
