Welcome everyone to the 178th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only has a Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.
In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, by a narrow margin deemed the FAL-themed AR-15 a hot gat.
At this time the original auction is still up with the price still sitting at $1,425. While this gun may be hot, it looks like the starting price was just a little too high. We hope this gun can find its way to a new home in the very near future.
In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a retro Intratec Model AB-10 chambered in 9mm. As is tradition, this classic 80s gat is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $1,499 Buy It Now with the Make Offer option available.
HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP?
TEC Classic or Expensive Plastic?
Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:
“Hot gat. But over priced” – Nick C.
“Not in .40 S&W, not my problem solver.” – Luke C.
”Any gun that has a magazine that’s longer than the barrel is hot, right?” – Eric B.
Selling this throwback gat is GunBroker seller gomoose02, located in Grand Forks ND. Let’s see what they had to say about this polymer classic.
Authors Note: The description is rather long, and we do not truncate these item descriptions. So I’ve added photos throughout for easier reading.

As firearm stories go, the story of Intratec is, well, rather fitting. Intratec started as Interdynamic USA in 1985 with a headquarters in Miami, Florida. With a combination of the 80s and being headquartered in Maimi, it’s no wonder these firearms were quickly known the world over.
What most don’t know is that Interdynamic USA was an offshoot of Swedish firearms manufacturer Interdynamic AB. Due to a lack of competitive firearms markets in Sweden, Interdynamic AB set up a stateside subsidiary in the United States to sell the KG-9, an open bolt semi-automatic 9mm pistol. The company would eventually change its name when George Kellgren left the company and Carlos Garcia renamed it Intratec. During this time, they continued to sell variants of the KG-99. Later, a specific model variant would be renamed Tec-9.
While the company made it through the last half of the 80s and the 90s, Intratec closed its doors in 2001. Since then, this iconic design has gotten rarer as collectors have sought them out. Open bolt variants like the KG-9 increase in value like clockwork as these guns move further away from the 6pm news spotlight, and more into the hands of collectors. Were they the best 9mm guns of this era? Absolutely not. Do they still possess a certain cool factor that has yet to fade? Yes, yes they do.
So what is an old AB-10 like this worth in what appears to be a fine condition? Is it worth it for the history at just under $1,500, or would you rather leave this behind and buy a more modern closed bolt magazine fed 9mm. As always, I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.
What do you think? Is this Intratec Model AB-10 a Hot Gat or overpriced throwback Fudd Crap? Be sure to let us know in the comments below, and cast your vote to let us know if this Intratec Model AB-10 9mm is a Hot Gat or Fudd Crap:
