Welcome everyone to the 148th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this gat a sweet deal or only has a Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.
In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, deemed the Colt Defender was a hot gat.
At this time the original auction is still up while the Colt longs for its new home. We hope it finds its way to that new home in the very near future.
In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a heavily customized Seward Defense AR-15. As is tradition, this skull-clad gat is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $4,200 Starting Bid or $4,200 Buy It Now.
HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Pirates Plunder or Ultimate Blunder?
Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:
“Sewerage Defense, you said?” – Giorgio O.
“A bad combo of looks cheap and is expensive. Such a cheesy skull motif they should have called it the GW-AR.” – Rusty S.
“Warhammer 40,000 called they want their aesthetic back” – Tim C.
“How deep is crush depth for an AR? Because this thing needs consigning to the deep” – Matt M.
“Did the gun go through a house fire, or is this intentional?” – Tim C.
“Nikola Tesla was prophetic when he said “You May Live to See Man-Made Horrors Beyond Your Comprehension” – Luke C.
“This further proves the point that not all labor is valuable” – Daniel Y.
“When you are high on a cocktail hallucinogenic drugs but have the itch to bedazzle something at the same time” – Nick C.
Selling this heavily modified gat is GunBroker seller Rseward1, located in Wichita KS. Let’s see what they had to say about this skull-laden AR-15.

Before we dive into this, well monstrosity, let’s talk about selling your guns online. Half the photos from this listing were unusable in this article, and having the Buy It Now price match the opening bid makes no sense. Please take well-lit landscape photos whenever possible. Even when that means you’re taking photos of, well honestly I’m still trying to figure this one out. It looks like a bad movie prop were pirates of the Caribbean have somehow time traved to the present day.
Carbon fiber buffer tubes and rails I guess make sense on this? But to be fair, nothing is going to make that heavy engraving look good. It looks like manageled gold after it’s been stomped into some sort of skull-shaped lava gravel, but hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder (or at least I think that’s what they say).
I’ll be the first to admit I like regular no-frills AR-15s, and I certainly don’t think this custom job is worth $4,200. Honestly, I don’t think it’s worth half that even with all the work done. With that said, I’ve seen weirder guns on display at ranges or demo days. So is this gun worth it for the price? As always I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.
What do you think? Is this Custom Seward Defense AR-15 a Hot Gat or just a skull pile of Fudd Crap? Be sure to let us know in the comments below, and cast your vote to let us know if this Seward Defense AR-15 one-of-a-kind masterpiece is a Hot Gat or Fudd Crap:
Special thank you to reader James L. for the tip!
