Welcome everyone to the 175th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only has a Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.
In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, decided the new school master key was fudd crap.
At the time this article was written the original auction was still up with zero bids on the under-barrel-equipped AR-15. Like all guns featured in this series, we hope this one can find its way to a new home in the near future.
In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a custom AR-15 chambered in 300 Blackout. As is tradition, this battle-worn Cerakoted gat is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $1,499 Buy It Now.
HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP?
Modern Hunter or Financial Blunder?
Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:
“Did they mean the kind of hunter who would smoke crack and throw this gun in a dumpster?” – Rusty S.
“Hunting for taste?” – Matt M
Selling this uniquely themed gat is GunBroker seller ardaddycom, located in Waterville ME. Let’s see what they had to say about this custom creation.
The custom HUNTER rifle is a strait up head turner!!
Yes, this gun was build specifically for the Hunter in mind.
As you are about to read, it was build with no expense to great to have what may be the perfect hunting rifle in the Modern Sporting Rifle format.
Toxic has a good solid foundation to this rifle starting with the Toxic Arms Forged 7075 Lower and and Billet Slickside Upper Receiver. Then they add the Toxic 15″ Pro series handrail
It is finished off with a Toxic Arms 16” 300 Blackout Match Grade Barrel.
Each one is hand made and no 2 are exactly alike.
The rifle from head to toe is just plain quality.
It has an Ambi Charging Handle so it is easier to grab when you have a scope mounted.
It has a short throw Hyper Fire Safety. This is so when you go from safe to fire, it is much faster.
It also has extended takedown pins.
The ejection Port cover is also custom made for this rifle. It is aluminum rather than steel. This part of the gun is known to rust very fast. We have these aluminum dust covers built so it simply can not rust, no matter the weather.
It even has an extended mag release, so if your wearing gloves, it is easy to change or load magazines.Just look at all the photo’s. You will see very fast this is no normal ar15.
IT REMAINS 100% MIL-SPEC BUT HAS ABOUT EVERY UPGRADE ALREADY INSTALLED AND READY TO FIRE.(IF you prefer a different caliber, please feel free to shoot us an email after the sale or call us and let us know.
This gun takes 5 – 14 days to complete if we don’t have one in stock. Every one is custom made by one of our AR-tist, so no 2 are exactly like as these are not simply “dipped”, they are done by hand and Cerakoted.
Generally, when themed firearms are featured in this series, I’m able to guess the underlying theme. Maybe I missed the B-List movie titled “The Hunter” or some other obscure reference. A more probable guess is this name sounded cool to someone. Hey, to each their own, but I think this represents pretty much the opposite of what every hunter is looking for. I guess “the hunter” is just a different breed.
Overall the rifle has nice features like a 45-degree safety, an oversized charging handle, and a good amount of sling points. One could argue certain features, but overall it looks like a solid-quality rifle. I guess if I wasn’t staring at a distressed / battle-worn Cerakote job, I’d be doing a better job of being impartial. It’s hard to take rifles like this seriously when one of your selector positions is “feast”.
Even with the upgraded components and limited number built, I really don’t see something like this selling for a shade under $1,500. But I honestly can say I have no idea what demographic this rifle appeals to. Maybe you do, and as always I’m happy to be proven wrong. So and as always I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.
