Hearing protection isn’t a term I’d normally associate with ATN and their product lineup but it might start to be more common given that the company just announced the release of their new X-Sound hearing protection. X-Sound hearing protection comes with a standard noise reduction rating of 22 dB and also sports numerous Bluetooth-enabled features that make them suitable for more than just shooting sports.

ATN Introduces the New ATN X-Sound Hearing Protection
The ATN X-Sound earmuffs have a lot of features like the ability to pair with a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone to make calls or just listen to music or other audio. X-Sound also features a compact folding design that most of you are probably familiar with from other popular hearing protection options, as well as two high-gain omnidirectional microphones, an audio input jack, and battery life of up to 300 hours using two AAA batteries. So that is the what, but why did ATN decide to get into the hearing protection market?
Moving into the hearing protection market is an obvious choice for ATN,” James Munn, CEO of ATN Corp., explained. “Our X-Sound Hearing Protection ear muffs not only offer noise reduction, but provide the user with individual controls for adjusting the volume of the surrounding noise levels, and separately control your media volume. With the ATN X-Sound, you can listen to music and even take that office call while you are sitting in a tree stand.
The ability to control both the external sound and internal sound levels is something that very few electronic hearing protection setups do well if at all. ATN X-Sound earmuffs are priced a little higher than competing options but without knowing what kind of drivers, mics, and other components X-Sound is using, it is hard to tell if these will be worth the price of admission. What can be said is that they cost $119 from the ATN website and also only come in OD green color and feature a wolf on each of the headphone pieces.
