Vudoo Gun Works are well known for their series of .22LR rifles including the Ravage, Sinister and Apparition. For SHOT Show 2023, Vudoo Gun Works brought along three new prototype magazines for their rifles. The magazines come in three capacities: 5, 10 and 15 rounds and have a user-requested adjustable magazine catch on the rear face of the magazine. This ensures a well-seated magazine.
The new magazines have had their profile reshaped with a cut in the front face of the magazine and the ammunition column has been canted slightly forward to improve feeding and reduce the risk of rim lock on the .22LR cartridge cases.
Made from machined aluminum, the magazines now have an offset top seam, where the two halves of a magazine body meet, this prevents the lower radius of the bolt from interacting with the bolt which it sits up against when seated. This improves bolt travel and reduces friction. While the current pre-production magazines are made from machined and anodized aluminum, other finish options are being explored. Vudoo Gun Works have also not discounted the idea of making a version (or the final production version) from 3D printed polymer, using an HP Multi Jet Fusion 3D printer.
Vudoo teased the new magazines on their social media a couple of weeks before SHOT.
Refinements are still being made to the dimensions of the top of the magazine where the ammunition column feeds up into the action. Vudoo Gun Works noted that they don’t yet have a firm fixed retail price for the magazines, if made from machined aluminum then the MSRP will likely be in the region of $100 while a 3D printed version is likely to be cheaper.
