[SHOT 2023] New 6 ARC, 6.5 PRC, and 10mm Loads From Black Hills

Black Hills Ammunition has a reputation for making high quality ammunition. They now offer a 6 ARC and 6.5 PRC load in their Black Hills Gold lineup. Also new this year is a 10mm load with their HoneyBadger branding.

First up is the 6mm ARC. This cartridge has made quite a splash and many rifle manufacturers are starting to pick it up. Black Hills chose the 103 grain Hornady ELD-X projectile for this load. The ELD-X is a hunting projectile with a polymer tip and heavier jacket, but it maintains a high ballistic coefficient for long range efficiency. Listed velocity is 2,600 FPS.

6.5 PRC is another Hornady-developed cartridge, and it has gained widespread adoption. It features a 143-grain Hornady ELD-X projectile at a listed velocity of 2,900 FPS.

10mm requires no introduction. It has seen a resurgence lately with new pistols from Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer, Glock, Springfield Armory, and even Hi-Point all hitting the market in recent memory. This particular load is part of the HoneyBadger lineup. It takes a different approach than many other handgun loads. Rather than go for the heaviest bullet possible or maximum expansion, HoneyBadger loads use non-deforming solid copper projectiles. They are substantially lighter than traditional lead and copper bullets thanks to their lighter weight. Listed velocity for the 10mm load is 1,600 FPS.
