Forster Products is (quite literally) expanding its line of Co-Ax presses with a forthcoming XL model. It is designed for cartridges up to .50 BMG.
[SHOT 2023] Forster Products Prototype Co-Ax XL Reloading Press
Forster’s Co-Ax press is a unique design and it has a reputation for precision. However, it is not large enough to accommodate the largest rifle calibers. Forster is working on a super-sized model that will take any caliber up to the .50 BMG. Its design is similar to the standard Co-Ax but larger and beefier.
The staff at Forster stressed that this is not a production model and that actual production versions will look like a finished product as opposed to the prototype. However, the general setup of the press will be similar with classic features like the floating quick change die slot, automatic shell holder jaws, and a spent primer catch function. The primary difference is the larger opening for bigger cases and the large, hefty build of the press.
The XL model shown at SHOT was a pure prototype. It is still in the design process and the features set is still indeterminate. Some of the features that are still up in the air are whether to include an integrated light behind the die or include a priming system on top of the press as seen on the standard Co-Ax. Part of the impetus in showing a prototype was getting feedback from potential customers. Feel free to drop your thoughts in the comments below and maybe someone at Forster will read them.
No pricing information was available, but it will cost more than the standard Co-Ax (which costs $570). Forster estimated a Q3 availability date but that is not at all certain.
