Photo Of The Day is from Royal Netherlands Army. As you can imagine, everything gets a lot more difficult to manage if you need to wear a gas mask. Have you ever tried it? Just imagine how more difficult it gets to aim correctly. TodayThe firearm above looks like the Colt Canada C8, which is a modernized version of the C8 carbine made by Diemaco.
Below you can read the translated description from the Koninklijke Landmacht:
𝑮𝑨𝑺 𝑮𝑨𝑺 𝑮𝑨𝑺 This week, during exercise RISING STALLION, colleagues in Lithuania experienced what it is like to work under chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) threats.
Wrapped in special suits, boot covers and rubber gloves, the soldiers moved along a dedicated route. As the first vehicle approaches a bridge, an explosion can be heard, immediately followed by a large cloud of yellow (gas) smoke. GAS GAS GAS! Under cover of the on-board weapon, all the dismounted soldiers put on their gas masks and then start the fight.
After a brief firefight, the platoon falls back to a previously visited location. From there they moved to the (German) CBRN decontamination street. There the camouflage and all on-board weapons are removed from the vehicles. After that, all infected personnel and equipment go through the decontamination street. A big advantage? The last station of the staff disinfection street is a hot shower!
RISING STALLION is the last battalion-led exercise of the eFP Battlegroup before the certification exercise IRON WOLF, which will start in mid-October.
