The newest EDC flashlight from SureFire was featured during NRAAM 2022 with the introduction of the new SureFire EDC2-DFT flashlight. This new pocket-sized flashlight is extremely powerful (550 lumens) and features a rechargeable SureFire 18650 lithium-ion battery, an IPX7 waterproof rating, and is intended for use as a convenient everyday carry flashlight.

[NRAAM 2022] The New Surefire EDC2-DFT Flashlight
The new EDC2-DFT flashlight can produce 71,000 candela with a runtime of 3.75 hours when powered by its included SF18650 rechargeable battery or two 123A primary batteries. The EDC2-DFT is also capable of operating at a lower 25-lumen power level with an extended operational time of 46.5 hours before a recharge is needed.
The EDC2-DFT comes with a standard push-button tail cap but the flashlight’s body is also compatible with other versions of their tail caps with the same body size. The light use a single high-power LED emitter, precision-engineered parabolic lens, and a tough glass lens sealed against both dust and water up to 1 meter in depth for up to 30 minutes. Like most of SureFire’s EDC flashlights, the body of the EDC2-DFT is made from high-quality anodized aluminum (MIL-A-8265 Type III, Class 2).
The tail switch can be clicked on and off as normal but can also be used as a momentary switch for only brief moments of illumination if desired. The tail switch is also responsible for switching between the high (550 lumens) and low (25 lumens) power modes without any delay between the two modes, unlike some other EDC flashlights that have the same functionality. While the EDC2-DFT was showcased at NRAAM 2022, it has yet to be released but should be available sometime in summer with an MSRP of around $300.
