Those of you who own, or at least have handled the Non-Reciprocating Charging Handle (NRCH for short) FN SCAR may have noticed that the stock version of said charging handle has stuck out from the side of the gun. This can be anywhere from annoying to some, to downright frustrating to others, especially when it can get caught up in slings, gear, brush, etc. Enter K&M Aerospace with their SCAR Handler folding charging handle which promises to tighten things up by folding out of the way when not in use.

While not heavy on details, K&M’s website does have the following info listed on the SCAR Handler product page:
THE HANDLER WAS DEVELOPED BECAUSE WE SAW THE NEED FOR A REPLACEMENT CHARGING HANDLE FOR THE SCAR NRCH. THE FOLDING CHARGING HANDLE IS MADE OUT OF AIRCRAFT GRADE ALUMINUM AND ANODIZED TO MIL SPEC TYPE III, CLASS 2. THERE IS A BALL DETENT THAT KEEPS THE HANDLE FOLDED IN WHEN NOT IN USE. THIS WILL ONLY WORK WITH THE NRCH MODEL
Folded out it has a grab length of 1-3/4″
Because of the way FN designed the mounting of the charging handle into the sled and carrier, there is inherent play in the OEM handle. Through the development of this folding charging handle there were several options tried to eliminate this movement. Unfortunately the only way to get the smooth pull like the OEM it has to stay loose. So this one will have the same movement like the OEM.
Is this something you can see yourself purchasing for your SCAR NRCH model? If so, the SCAR Handler is available right now from K&M Aerospace’s website at $65 for a single handle, or two for $120 if you want to have the option to charge with either hand.
As always, we do enjoy hearing your opinions on things like this so feel free to drop a comment below!
