Welcome everyone to the 164th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only has a Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.
In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, decided the Zebra print AK was nothing but fudd crap.
At this time the original auction remains up with this Zebra-themed gat still up for grabs. We can only hope this exotic gat can find its way to a new home in the very near future. I in all sincerity mean this. There are clearly those out there that enjoy these firearms. So to this and all guns that haven’t sold, we hope all of them can find their way to a new home very soon.
In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a custom Henry Model X chambered in .30-30. As is tradition, this tricked-out lever gat is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $2,998 Buy It Now.

Overall, there have been two events in recent memory that have sold a massive amount of lever action firearms. The first was the use of the Marlin 1895SBL by Chris Pratt’s character in 2015’s Jurassic World. I worked at a gun store after this movie came out, and I was asked “Do you sell that gun from Jurassic World” more times than I care to count.
The second came with the reveal of 2019’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare where a tactical looking suppressed lever gun was featured in the trailer. Boom, another surge in interest and sales. Movies and video games have always had a massive impact on gun culture, and I think this rifle is a prime example of that.
I mean execution and accessories aside (we could debate those forever) this gun would be a blast to shoot suppressed. I would argue that you’d be better off getting it in a different caliber. But hey, maybe you’re sitting on a stash of .30-30 ammo grandpa left you and this is the gun you’ve been looking for. Either way, I think an interesting rifle. Even if I think the execution and price tag are a bit strange. Is this something that we’ll look back on fondly, or will this look like the ultimate tactical AR-15 from 2008 in 10 years? I guess we’ll find out.
Is this custom Henry Model X worth it with all the accessories and a price tag of just under $3k? Or are you better off buying something stock, and maybe just leaving it factory? As always I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.
