I absolutely love being able to compete with firearms. While casual target shooting and firearm reviewing is rewarding in its own right, nothing really quite beats the thrill, and excitement of running your favorite firearms in a competition environment. Unfortunately, for many people firearms competitions can be quite intimidating for newcomers because of the high up front cost of equipment as well as the fear of being judged and ridiculed by fellow competitors who may have been competing for decades. That is why I’m excited to share the news that SIG Sauer has officially launched SHOOT SIG – a new firearms competition that not only welcomes all skill levels of competitions, but also activley encourages shooters to participate at hosting ranges in a fun and less intimidating atmosphere.

SHOOT SIG – The New Competition for the Everyman
SHOOT SIG is a new competition aimed at getting you from the house to the range in a fun and approachable atmosphere. Become a member of SHOOT SIG and you will enjoy fun and safe firearms ownership in a friendly environment and gain access to exclusive member-only benefits.
Founded by Team SIG professional shooter Daniel Horner, SHOOT SIG is a membership community that welcomes all levels of firearms enthusiasts and encourages participation in the shooting sports. As a member, you unlock the power to:
- Register for SHOOT SIG matches across the country
- Participate in the SHOOT SIG Product Purchase Program for exclusive member pricing
- Access to purchase SHOOT SIG Gun of the Year
- 15% Webstore cart discount after match completion
And much more
The competition will be similar to Steel Challenge in that it will feature a predetermined set of standardized stages which will make it much more approachable for newcomers. Participants will be allowed to use their own firearms or a SIG Firearm that will be provided to you at the match. Each match should only take two boxes of ammunition, and one hour at the range.
Ideally, this would bring in a lot more participants to the competitive shooting world which is something I’m all for. SHOOT SIG will have an annual membership fee of $50 which gives you access to the above-listed benefits. From the information I’ve gleaned from the SIG Sauer website, it appears that the stages will be pretty standardized and will include a mix of both steel and paper targets. So far there appear to be 3 stages available for competitors but I’m almost certain that down the road more stages will be added. In addition to the competition itself, SHOOT SIG will also give its members access to seminars, special events and quarterly prize pack drawings featuring SIG Suer products. Let us know what you think of this new competition organization from SIG, would this convince you to start picking up competitive shooting?
