FAB Defense have launched a new recoil mitigating buttstock. The GL-CORE Impact stock uses a patented recoil reduction mechanism with three variable settings. FAB Defense say that the stock can reduce felt recoil by up to 50% and can be used with shotguns and rifles.
FAB Defense’s team explained to us that they believe the Impact stock improved accuracy and reduces a shooter’s fatigue by mitigating the felt recoil of the weapon. It features an ergonomically shaped rubber butt pad. Interchangeable buffer tube adaptors for mil-spec and commercial tubes are available.

From our quick examination it appears that the rifle’s buffer tube acts on a free-floating plunger which moves in line with the rifle but is attached to a robust coil spring which can be tensioned inside the stock with the top position giving the strongest resistance to compression by the firearm’s recoil.

With three settings the stock’s recoil mitigation setting can be changed with ease allowing shooters with different needs and preferences to use the same firearm. They also noted that it would be useful for those shooters who want to shoot but might have physical difficulties with recoil. The system features an ‘inverted positioning lever’ which can not be accidentally opened. FAB Defense say that you can “customize the level of recoil reduction to suit your needs & caliber, whether you’re shooting long range, 5.56, or close quarters, buckshot, this buttstock has you covered.”
