[SIG Sauer 2023] Hands On With The SIG Sauer P365 Rose

Ahead of this year’s SHOT Show SIG Sauer held an independent range day at the Clark County Shooting Complex. Tucked away at the side of the range was something you don’t often see – a Rose Garden. The Rose Garden pavilion was dedicated to the newest member of the ever growing P365 family – the Rose.

While I might not be part of the target audience for the Rose I was pleased to get some trigger time with the 9x19mm variants of the new pistol. Essentially the pistol is just the P365 which many of us know and love but really the idea behind the rose is more than that. It’s an effort to encourage women to learn to shoot and enjoy the hobby. As you would expect – they shot just like P365s.

SIG ROSE (Matthew Moss/TFB)

SIG Explain that the Rose was developed in collaboration with “Team SIG Professional Shooter and 8-time World Champion Lena Miculek” and was “created to help encourage and inspire women to take on the responsibility of their own personal safety through education, training, and community.” SIG describes the Rose as “a holistic program that helps women take the first step toward responsible firearms ownership.”

The Rose package includes:

a special edition P365-XL COMP ROSE pistol chambered in 9MM or P365-380 ROSE, a custom ROSE Vaultek safe, and instant access to a complete step-by-step video training series with Lena Miculek that is supported by an online community… the kit provides you with all the tools you need, including the pistol, extra magazines, safe storage, dummy rounds for training, magazine loader, and a quick start guide

Aesthetically the pistol has rose pink accented take down lever, slide release and trigger as well as a rose shaped pattern on the pistol grips stippling and ‘Rose by SIG Sauer’ on the slide. The Rose is available in .380 and 9x19mm, it comes with an optics ready slide and during SIG’s range day we were able to try a pistol with a RomeoZero reflex sight with a rose shroud to match the pistol’s controls – the optic will be available later this year.

While the pistol itself may be nothing new, the concept behind the Rose is solid. SIG Sauer have put a lot of effort into putting together a pistol and package to appeal to aesthetically – the Rose is a far cry from a garishly cerakoted bright pink pistols often offered to women looking for their first pistol. Encouraging women to learn to shoot is an admirable endeavour.
