‘Super Sized Salon’ Star and Babydoll Beauty Couture Founder Dead at 37

The Babydoll Beauty Couture founder and star of the WE tv show Super Sized Salon, Jamie Lopez, has passed away. She was 37.

According to TMZ’s sources,  the star, who at one point weighed 846 pounds, was taken to a Las Vegas hospital over the weekend, where she later died of heart complications.

“On behalf of the Babydoll Beauty Couture team, we regretfully announce, with great pain, the passing of The Founder & Owner of Babydoll Beauty Couture, The Legendary Jamie Lopez,” her salon wrote on Instagram Monday.

“We ask, on behalf of the Babydoll family, that you allow us time to process this tremendous loss. Further details and arrangements will be announced soon. We have suffered an extraordinary loss and appreciate the time and space to grieve in peace. Please keep our Babydoll family & team lifted in your hearts and prayers,” the post continued.

A rep for the company told TMZ in a statement: “We regretfully announce, with great pain, the passing of The Founder & Owner of Babydoll Beauty Couture, The Legendary Jamie Lopez. We ask, on behalf of the Babydoll family, that you allow us time to process this tremendous loss.”

Lopez’s Las Vegas business, founded in 2017, claims to be the world’s first plus-size salon.

“People just don’t like fat people, they treat us horribly,” she told the Mirror in 2019 regarding her drive to foster inclusivity. “They want to make us feel like we’re unwelcome or feel like we don’t belong here.”

The WE tv show, which premiered in August, chronicled her journey to design it while confined to her bed, as she weighed 846 pounds before losing 400 pounds.
