Two people, a woman and a teenaged girl, were killed and several wounded in a shooting at a high school in St. Louis, Missouri Monday. The gunman was killed by police. The toll could have been worse, a student witness said the shooter’s gun jammed. Another student witness said the shooter was w white man.Police said the shooter was a male about 20 years old.
The shooting took place around 9 a.m. CDT at the Central Visual and Performing Arts High School, which shares a building with the Collegiate School of Medicine and Bioscience. Both schools were placed on lockdown but only CVPA was targeted by the gunman. (The school was misidentified in early reports.)
A teen and an adult were killed in a shooting at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School in St. Louis on Monday morning, police Commissioner Michael Sack said.
Police located the shooter, and he was shot during an exchange of gunfire, he said. He was later pronounced as deceased, Sack said. Police previously said the gunman was in custody.
Authorities did not immediately identify the victims or the shooter, but Sack said during a news conference those slain were a woman who was pronounced dead at a hospital and a teen girl who was killed at the scene. The shooter was a man who appeared to be about 20 years old, he said.
Eight victims were transported to an area hospital, the commissioner said.

“This morning I was on the air @kmoxnews when my daughter began texting me that her school was on lockdown. Sirens. Screaming. Then I have to begin talking ON THE AIR about the latest school shooting in America. My daughter’s school…I had to maintain my composure and be professional while the mom in me wanted to run out of the room. When she texted that she was out and safe, and we went to commercial, I started crying. Then @caroldanielKMOX hugged me and it was 😭 …My daughter’s school is Collegiate School of Medicine and Bioscience, which shares the building with CVPA (Central Visual and Performing Arts). We shouldn’t have to live this way. Props to CSMB & CVPA for their leadership at to @SLMPD for quick/decisive action.”
