Isaiah Lee
The man who attacked comedian Dave Chappelle earlier this month has been charged with attempted murder for stabbing his roommate in December.
Earlier this month Soros-backed Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón announced he will not bring felony charges against Isaiah Lee, the knife-wielding man who attacked comedian Dave Chappelle at the Hollywood Bowl.
“After reviewing the evidence, prosecutors determined that while criminal conduct occurred, the evidence as presented did not constitute felony conduct,” the DA’s office said in a statement regarding the violent attack against Chappelle. “The District Attorney’s Office does not prosecute misdemeanor crimes within the city of Los Angeles.”
As TGP’s Kristinn Taylor reported, Dave Chappelle was attacked on stage two weeks ago during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles at the Netflix Is a Joke Fest.
Isaiah Lee rushed the stage and lunged at Chappelle in an effort to take him down.
According to TMZ, Lee, 24, was armed with a replica handgun with a knife attached.
The DA’s office on Thursday said the publicity surrounding Lee’s attack of Chappelle helped police solve a stabbing crime from December.
“The publicity generated by the attack on Mr. Chappelle helped police solve this crime,” said District Attorney George Gascón in a statement Thursday. “The incident that occurred at the Hollywood Bowl was misdemeanor conduct and rightfully referred to the City Attorney’s Office. Based on the nature and severity of the December attack, Mr. Lee is now facing felony charges which my office will prosecute.”
ABC 7 reported:
The man who attacked comedian Dave Chapelle at the Hollywood Bowl is now charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing his roommate back in December.
Isaiah Lee, 24, faces one count of attempted murder, the district attorney’s office announced Thursday.
The DA’s office is crediting publicity surrounding the attack on Chappelle with helping the stabbing victim identify his alleged attacker, the DA’s office said.
Lee is accused of stabbing his roommate on Dec. 2, 2021 during a fight at a transitional housing apartment, officials said.
Lee is also identified as the man who rushed on stage at the Hollywood Bowl and tackled Chappelle as he was performing on May 3.
