The US Capitol was ordered evacuated due to an aircraft posing a “probable threat” on Wednesday evening, but Capitol Police say that there is no longer a threat.
People were ordered to evacuate the US Capitol, Capitol Visitor Center, Hart, Dirksen, Russell, Cannon, Longworth, Rayburn, the Library of Congress, and the US Botanic Garden administrative and conservatory buildings.
“The USCP is tracking an aircraft that poses a probable threat to the Capitol Complex,” the Capitol Police said in an email to press and staff.
It turned out, the Capitol Police were not notified that the Army parachuting team was jumping at National’s Park.
