Facing growing unpopularity in his party and a tough redistricting by unsympathetic Democrats in his home state, Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) announced Friday he will not run for reelection next. Kinzinger is one of the few remaining anti-Trump GOP congressmen left in the House, second only in notoriety to Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY). Kinzinger and Cheney are the only two Republicans serving on the House investigation into the January 6 riot at the Capitol.

Kinzinger was first elected in 2010 as part of the Tea Party wave that gave Republicans control of the House. He opposed candidate Trump in 2016 and voted to impeach President Trump in 2021 over the Capitol riot.
