Vote for Best Search & Rescue, Raise Money for SAR Teams

Home » News » Vote for Best Search & Rescue, Raise Money for SAR Teams

Last year, radio brand Rocky Talkie identified four outstanding search and rescue operations from a field of 40 nominees. Now, it’s recruiting help to decide how it doles out $25,000 in awards.

Anyone involved in mountain sports knows search and rescue (SAR) teams put up with a lot — and risk a lot to do it. This year, Rocky Talkie will reward a few teams who pushed the limits the furthest to save lives.

In partnership with the American Alpine Club (AAC), Rocky Talkie will distribute $25,000 among four finalist teams for the 2021 Search and Rescue Award. Each team earned its finalist status based on a 2021 rescue that demonstrated “unbelievable skill, passion, and dedication.”

The communications brand says it needs your help to determine which team will win what. Each rescue story reverberates with mountain sense, courage, and emotion. Read each one on Rocky Talkie’s website, and then cast your vote on or before May 3, 2022.

Bonus: Your vote automatically enters you in a drawing to win free radios and an AAC membership.

AAC member benefits include emergency rescue and healthcare coverage, brand partner deals, and discounted stays at various locations within the AAC network.

On July 30, 2021, Ouray Mountain Rescue volunteers endured landslides, lightning, and 2 inches of hail to save a hiker who’d fallen 40 feet near the summit of Mount Sneffels (14,157 feet). The hiker had skidded off a verglass-coated slab, hurrying to descend ahead of the storm the rescuers ultimately faced.

By the time they reached the incapacitated patient, the temperature had hit -20 degrees F, and he was hypothermic. A severe head injury complicated matters and made him combative when he regained alertness.

On October 20, 2021, Joe Walton fell 200 feet off the 2,000-foot Red Rocks classic “Epinephrine” outside Las Vegas. Simul-climbing on easy terrain near the top of the formation, Walton had slipped on a slab and ripped out every piece of gear between him and his partner, somewhere above 1,200 feet.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police SAR team arrived at the wall after dark via helicopter and found the climbers there with a spotlight. Their rope had snagged on “a tiny knob of rock” on the steep cliff face and, amazingly, caught them on their way down. They’d be on a ledge 1,000 feet below if it hadn’t. A complex, technical operation ensued.

On January 28, 2021, the Tahoe Nordic SAR Team searched for a lost snowboarder amid some of the most dangerous avalanche conditions the region had ever seen. Ten feet of snow over 3 days before the rescue had loaded virtually every chute in the area to the breaking point.

The snowboarder, an off-duty California Highway Patrol officer, had taken a wrong turn at Sugar Bowl Resort and landed in deep, remote powder near closing time. When the SAR team arrived, ski patrollers doubted they could find a safe route to the snowboarder’s location.

He was stuck just a mile away from where they stood. But the only safe route there required over 5 miles of snowcat and ski travel through dangerously deep powder.

On July 19, 2021, a climber in Poudre Canyon, Colo., fell 30 feet and fractured his spine. Larimer County SAR found him after dark. The climber was responsive but immobilized on a narrow ledge surrounded by complex terrain: featureless, vertical walls and broken gullies filled with loose rock.

Paramedics secured the climber, whose broken spine had punched through the skin in some places, to a litter. SAR negotiated the delicate and dangerous job of ascending and rappelling the prohibitive cliff without launching rocks into the rescue site, the rescuers, or the patient. The job took the whole night and around 50 rescue personnel.

KUIU Goes All-In on Women’s Hunting Apparel

Home » Outdoor » Hunt / Fish » KUIU Goes All-In on Women’s Hunting Apparel

After years of offering high-performance men’s hunting apparel, KUIU announced the introduction of a full line of hunting apparel specifically designed for women.

For context, this is KUIU’s first major effort at a complete women’s line. And, in many ways, it’s a redemptive step.

The brand is, for lack of a more perfect word, ballsy. And past trials of tongue-in-cheek humor and marketing that missed the mark earned a bit of criticism on our part.

But redemption is, of course, a beautiful thing. And this line looks to be much more than a reversal on KUIU’s part.

It’s a whole-assed endeavor, with a whole lot more coming.

We couldn’t be more excited to see the brand putting big energy into a women’s line that looks to be badass, affordable, and comprehensive.

The initial launch consists of nine styles, including rain gear, outerwear, insulation, midlayers, base layers, and accessories. The women’s line utilizes the same technology as the brand’s heavily tested performance men’s apparel.

“Our goal was to create hunting gear that ensures all women can comfortably and confidently hunt in the most challenging and demanding environments and conditions,” says Kevin Wilkerson, VP of Brand Marketing.

The initial pieces are currently available on the KUIU website, with new items becoming available through the summer of 2022.

Key Pieces

KUIU Womens

The women’s performance line is available in KUIU’s Valo, Verde, and Vias Camo patterns.

Some of the key pieces of the collection that are currently available online include:

We’ll add that the marketing from the brand is on point in this go-round. Women hunters hold their own in the field, and thanks to this new line from KUIU, brand enthusiasts don’t have to wear men’s gear anymore.

“After years of research, testing, and development, this collection is a full line-up of ultralight hunting gear engineered with an obsessive attention to fit, function, and detail. Hard tested and proven, it’s built to keep women protected from the elements while regulating their comfort,” KUIU writes.

We look forward to doing a full review of the KUIU women’s kit, as well as seeing where the pieces will land on the spectrum of the best hunting gear for women. Stay tuned.

Go Fish: Paddleboard While You Cast on the iROCKER BLACKFIN Model XL SUP

Home » Water » SUP » Go Fish: Paddleboard While You Cast on the iROCKER BLACKFIN Model XL SUP

iROCKER offers both hard and inflatable SUPs designed to take on a variety of nautical adventures. The brand designed the BLACKFIN Model XL to handle more than a casual trip across the water.

With the rise in popularity of standup paddleboarding in recent years, SUP brands have been hard at work creating boards that can do more, like offering anglers a vessel to fish from.

The inflatable BLACKFIN Model XL was made for just that. iROCKER designed this board to take you further than simply paddling across your favorite bodies of water. It says that, due to its triple-layer PVC composite construction with a carbon rail, the BLACKFIN Model XL is capable of giving you a quality fishing trip with increased durability and rigidity.

The BLACKFIN model also allows for additional attachments (sold separately) such as a fishing rack and a sand spear push pole that should make bringing in the catch of the day as easy as casting your line.

It weighs in at 29 pounds without its bag and accessories. With all accessories included, it weighs closer to 52 pounds. Don’t worry, though — the backpack has wheels.

With a weight limit of 485 pounds, this inflatable board allows for the addition of rods, coolers, and any gear necessary for the day’s adventures.

Why Fish From a SUP?

SUPs are generally cheaper than boats — not to mention that the portability and smaller size allow a much larger range of access than you could get with a boat.

The lack of bulk also allows for a better view into the water, as well as less noise and commotion to potentially scare fish away. Being able to easily sit, stretch out, or stand offers more ways to be not only comfortable but also more effective than if you were stuck sitting on the bench of a kayak.

The real question is, why not? The durable construction of SUPs makes a puncture unlikely. The increased size and weight capacity of inflatable boards like this one mean that you don’t have to sacrifice your favorite gear and accessories, and the size makes it easy to relax or get closer to the action.

So, why fish from a SUP? Because you can — and because it’s fun.

SOG Flash MT Review: The Lightest Multitool With Full-Size Pliers

More than a decade after its launch, the Leatherman Skeletool has some real competition — the SOG Flash MT. It’s a full-size multitool aimed at EDC.

For years, multitools have been great step-savers for house and garage chores. But their weight and sometimes difficult-to-access knives (the most commonly used tool) made them less than ideal for everyday carry. Luckily, things have slowly changed.

Leatherman installed its blades on the outside of its tools, making them much more accessible. Then, with the release of the Skeletool, the brand made the multitool light enough to be carried daily. But there were still some compromises — the Skeletool had some really blunt pliers, the driver was off-center, and the tool was longer than it needed to be.

The Skeletool used to be the only full-size multitool that could be daily carried. But now a new, even lighter challenger has entered the ring: the SOG Flash MT.

SOG Flash MT - screwdriver

SOG Flash MT Specs

  • Tool complement: Needlenose pliers, wirecutters, center-drive screwdriver, bottle opener, pry tool, and assisted-open knife
  • Knife blade: Coated 2.36” D2 with flat grind
  • OAL closed: 3 ¾”
  • OAL open: 5 ⅜”
  • Weight: 4.7 oz.
  • Price: $70
  • Country of origin: China

SOG Flash MT Review

Let’s Talk About Weight

SOG Flash MT - weight
(Photo/Anthony Sculimbrene)

There are a lot of knives heavier than the Flash MT. For example, the Hinderer XM-18 3.5” weighs almost a full ounce more at 5.6 ounces compared to the Flash’s 4.7.

The SOG Flash MT is a really light multitool — the lightest with full-size pliers. Those pliers also happen to have SOG’s compound leverage system, giving a lot of force when gripping items.

Testing & Notable Features

I’ve done some major office renovation and used the Flash MT to build a few pieces of flat-pack furniture (yuck), and it did exceptionally well.

The clip is an over-the-top, deep-carry clip set at an angle to make it pass over the center of gravity of the tool, which prevents it from rolling in the pocket. This is customary for off-center clips like those found on the Leatherman Skeletool, Wave, and Charge.

Aside from the size, there are a few notable improvements over its chief rival, the Skeletool. The Flash MT has a much better, pointier pair of pliers, allowing you to get in and do real work.

The center drive is absolutely ingenious in its implementation and blows the Gerber goose-necked driver out of the water in terms of utility. Finally, the blade here is quite thin and slice-y. Lots of multitools have insanely bulky blades for no real reason, but that’s not an issue here.

Drawbacks

The drawbacks of the SOG Flash MT are pretty typical of multitools. Its handle, with all its cavities and tool components, is a far cry from comfortable.

The driver — a two-headed 4mm with Phillips on one side and flathead on the other — is small enough to sometimes not work on bigger fasteners.

One thing that was surprising was the blade play on the knife. I’d prefer no assist and less slop, but I think, given the design, there needs to be some fidget room for the assist to work.

Conclusion

In the end, all of these drawbacks don’t weigh down the Flash MT. This is the smallest, most EDC-friendly full-size multitool on the market. It just happens to have an excellent little blade as well. I highly recommend it.

Rachel Maddow leaked a private phone call on her show on Thursday night of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy with Trump-hating lunatic Liz Cheney on January 10, 2021.

On January 10, 2021, Kevin McCarthy spoke with several GOP House leaders including Liz Cheney who was third-in-line in the House Republican Caucus at that time.

During the call, McCarthy told Liz Cheney that he would counsel President Trump Trump to resign.

From the call:

Kevin McCarthy:  “I think [impeachment resolutions] will pass, and it would be my recommendation you (President Trump) should resign… What he did is unacceptable. Nobody can defend that and nobody should defend it.”

Five Wrong Lessons From Survival Movies

0

SHTFPreparedness may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page.

I don’t have a lot of use for Hollywood these days. I’ve seen enough to keep my imagination occupied for a lifetime. That being said, the puppets in Hollywood still have their place. From the occasional laugh to a jump scare, I still catch a few movies per year. Of these, I approach survival movies as a means to step into another’s shoes and think about what I would do in their situation. Most of what hits on the big screen is for entertainment value and very little happens regarding common sense. With this in mind, let’s look at some wrong lessons from survival movies.

Survival Movie Genres

The spectrum of Survival Movies is pretty broad. From man vs nature to zombie extravaganzas, they all contain an element of survival. Traditional survival films are easy to immerse yourself into. You may not have made the mistakes that brought our hero, however, there are a million other twists that could put you in a similar jam.

Look past the supernatural elements of zombie and alien films. Consider these substitutes or allegories for the roving masses of refuges from worse off areas. Even in these fantasy worlds, there are still valuable lessons learned from the cast of characters.

Regardless of the genre and how stupid the main characters act, you can glean information from their situations. Ask yourself what you would repeat and what you would avoid. How would you improve the situation? More food, more supplies, more information and communication?

It’s time to take a critical eye to a few and look at the wrong lessons from survival movies and see what we can learn.

Wrong Lessons From Survival Movies: Grid Down Movies

This version of the survival movie places the actors in a grid down situation. Be it from EMP or cyber-attack, the world as they know it has disappeared and things are about to change for the worse.

Blackout

Blackout follows a small rural town facing a probable cyber-attack. A pack of teens, a couple from the city, and a rural prepper all try to make their way in this dark world.

  • Abraham Benrubi, Lymari Nadal, Nia Kingsley (Actors)
  • Louis Mandylor (Director) – Jordan Marder (Writer) – Carl W. Lucas (Producer)

  • English (Subtitle)

The teens in the movie represent the typical clueless people that make every wrong decision possible. The teens provide us with plenty of wrong lessons. They start on a backwoods hike and when they come back to civilization and find a collapsed society. Then they break into houses and fail to follow known roads. Their fatal move happens when they wander into a tent camp with all the signs of bad elements (trash, empty beer and liquor bottles) and not leave it immediately.

The prepper character is not without his mistakes. His first mistake is to store his food cache in one location. Further, he locates the cache in his attic. Attics experience wide temperature swings that shorten the life of any stored food from freeze-dried to canned. It’s better to store your goods in the main part of the house or even better below ground in a cellar. Likewise, it’s all stored in one location, leaving him to be an easy victim of theft.

His choice of defensive weapons was also poor. Throughout the crisis, we only see him with a shotgun. They represent him as ex-military and he is obviously survival minded as he lectures the town about what is about to come. Even with this show of knowledge, he never brings a battle rifle to bear.

American Blackout

This National Geographic production has a powerful opening segment and equally good lead up to the final country wide blackout. A cyber-attack first takes down the east coast and Midwest. The blackout soon spreads to the Texas grid and finally the west coast. Until the final grid goes down and the new stations run out of reserve fuel, hope remains with people. Once the silence is deafening, that’s when society truly fails.

The movie follows several groups, from a prepared survivalist, to college aged kids in an elevator, and a high-rise couple that plan to litigate when this is all over. Not to give the ending away, but it ends poorly for them.

Most of the characters are ill prepared and either do not or refuse to recognize the situation for what it is. Many have blackout parties and or sit and wait for the power to come back on. This lackadaisical attitude leaves them slow to hit the stores. The writers are a bit generous here. In recent days, we have seen looting and mass chaos happen much quicker than the three days in the film. Learn from this and stock up quickly if you need to top off your goods.

Likewise, they all depend on their cell phones for communication. The problem here is too many attempts to make voice calls rather than sending text messages. The cellular system queues up text messages for eventual delivery, while voice calls fail because of saturated circuits.

As soon as the power fails, only one character acts. The survivalist goes “code red” and evacuates the family (including the daughter’s boyfriend) to their bug out location. He follows “the plan” and secures his family. While he is obviously prepared, he still makes several wrong decisions throughout the film. He fails to train the new member of the group properly, which results in a liability later as the young man gives food to hostile neighbors.

This brings us to the next wrong lesson from the survival movie. The survivalist does form a community with the neighbors. Ultimately, they come to his compound to raid it for food and supplies. This sets up the final thing that this movie gets wrong. When the power comes back on, he is in the middle of an assault by his neighbors. The moment the power is back on, they stop their attack and wander back into the woods. I doubt that the lights turning back on and the cell phones working again would stop someone mid-assault.

Wrong Lessons Summary: Know your environment and have a plan

The characters in these movies largely fail to recognize the value of a plan and the situation that they are in. Situational awareness is that ounce of prevention that saves you from a lot of trouble. Hollywood does not favor the prepared as with preparation, there is no challenge. And without challenge, there is no story.

Wrong Lessons Summary: Have the proper supplies and store them correctly

It takes knowledge, skills, and supplies to survive troubled times. When you have invested time and money in your cache of supplies, they deserve the proper care. Food, water, and other goods are usually best stored in a cool and dry location. This film’s depiction of food stored in an attic will only lead to quick degradation.

Wrong Lessons From Survival Movies: Man Vs Nature Movies

The quintessential man vs nature movies are Cast Away and Into The Wild. While they are very different, they both pit the main character against the elements. Reflected in the way they handle the situations is our own sense of wilderness skill and ability to handle the unknown.

Cast Away

Cast Away pits the main character against nature on a deserted island. A plane crash strands him alone with few resources. The character overcomes the need for his necessities with the contents of the few packages that wash up on shore and the abundance of natural materials around him.

Cast AwayCast Away
Cast Away
  • Factory sealed DVD
  • Helen Hunt, Nick Searcy, Chris Noth (Actors)
  • Tom Hanks (Director)

Despite his success while on the island, his primary mistake, and the wrong lesson of the film happens in the opening minutes. As he boards his flight, he hands off his EDC to his fiancé. While only a simple key ring, the ring contains his knife. He must improvise several cutting instruments without his knife. This ultimately leads to extra calories wasted and even injuries.

Into The Wild

This story of Christopher McCandless focuses mainly on his rejection of his upper middle-class upbringing and his yearning for adventure. Time and time again, he ventures out to prove himself. Often taking risks, both personal and emotional. While I admire this spirit, I cannot forgive his fatal flaws.

Into the WildInto the Wild
Into the Wild
  • Emile Hirsch, Marcia Gay Harden, William Hurt (Actors)
  • Sean Penn (Director)
  • English, French, Spanish (Subtitles)
  • Audience Rating: R (Restricted)

His search for adventure leads him to the last American frontier in Alaska. And during this quest, he pays with his life. He leaves the civilized world with little more than a few pounds of rice and a .22 rifle. Any skilled outdoorsman would shudder at his lack of proper food, clothing, maps, and environmental knowledge. Unfortunately, this leads to his death in the Alaskan wilderness he longed to explore.

Wrong Lessons Summary: Be prepared

Hollywood provides us with a resounding lesson in these movies. Be prepared. No matter your skill set, no matter your experience level, mother nature doesn’t care. An unexpected rain shower or cold front can change the brightest day in the woods to a life-or-death situation if you can’t maintain your body temperature. A broken ankle can keep you in the woods for days or weeks as search teams spread out to find you. A few thousand calories in the form of power bars or emergency rations can keep your energy up enough to survive a cold night.

Wrong Lessons From Survival Movies: Zombie Movies

Zombies are a fantastic allegory for the lost and desperate in a survival situation. Hollywood has expanded on this theme but the similarities are none the less there. Both are desperate, and both are relentless. The acts of a father trying to feed his starving children do not differ from a desperate and unstoppable zombie. So what are the wrong lessons from these zombie films?

The Night Eats The World and Alone

Both these films follow a lone survivor in a post-apocalyptic world. A zombie virus has infected the world, and they are stuck in their apartments. While the initial ramp up is similar in both, how they deal with the situation differs.

Both movies are set in urban areas which have questionable survival odds at the best of times, let alone when zombies roam free! The first wrong lesson is their failure to act as soon as things get bad. Within a few days, they are stuck in the apartment with no option but to stay.

The two characters do not recognize their situation and fail to take a survey of the food in their apartments. It takes many days to tally up the resources at their disposal. Likewise, it takes weeks for them to branch out and see what is available in their own building. Granted, they are swarming with zombies, but characters can deal with these systematically and clear the building. It’s weeks before they even know if there are survivors in their building or neighboring buildings.

These wrong lessons lead to hardships, mostly as isolation and starvation. A little exploration eventually pays off, albeit with some risk and effort. Had they acted sooner, they would have been that much more successful.

Wrong Lessons Summary: Go early

Situational awareness and the willingness to act takes knowledge and faith in oneself. The characters in these two movies are not preppers and have little in the way of stored goods. In an actual situation (e.g., grid down rather than zombies), it’s best to take action early and get yourself to a position of increased safety. Especially if you live in an urban area.

Wrong Lessons Summary: Know your environment and have a plan

It’s all well and good to act early, but direct action requires a plan. A proper plan is cognizant of your environment. Urban areas are challenging enough with their size limitations (e.g., apartment living) and competition for supplies.

The wrong lesson of these films is that the main characters have no plan for and are not prepared for the challenges of their environment. Even if the situation denies them the opportunity to evacuate, their plan should have included water collection the minute things got sketchy. Likewise, a map of fellow apartment dwellers could have paid off either by building community or pooling resources.

Summarizing Wrong Lessons From Survival Movies

The most boring films are when the good guy wins without a struggle. Nothing but blue skies and full bellies. Good story telling requires conflict and challenges. A lot of the choices in Hollywood movies are designed to add these elements to the story to make it more appealing. That doesn’t mean we can’t learn from our hero’s mistakes.

A lot of preparedness is running various scenarios through in order to reflect on your knowledge, skills, and tools. Do you have what it takes to survive <fill in the blank>? The issue with this is that we are limited by our imagination. This is where movies come in. We get to learn from their mistakes. Take some time to watch these movies and learn from their wrong lessons in survival.

Dangerous Survival Myths

0
Sometimes watching movies and reading up things on the internet can provide you with false information and this is the case when it comes to survival tips as well. Just because you have heard or seen something often enough does not necessarily mean the survival tip is legitimate, it can in fact be a survival myth. Often following these survival myths is a sure way to actually get you killed especially if you have no solid scientific evidence to back them up. Doing proper research when you learn a new survival tip is a good way to make sure of its authenticity and if it really will help you survive or not. We will look at some of the most common survival myths to help steer you in the right direction and shed some light on fact vs fiction.

Drinking Your Urine Is Good Last Ditch Hydration Source

drinking urine While this may be one of the survival myths you may have seen on survival shows or even in movies it is not strictly speaking a good idea. This is especially the case if you are in a hot environment and already experiencing some dehydration. Drinking urine in a hot environment will likely put undue stress on your kidneys which won’t exactly kill you but it won’t be doing you any favors either. Bottom line is do not rely on this survival tip to keep you going for too long.

Finding Food Is Your First Priority

finding food While staying well nourished will certainly help you in a disaster it should really not be your first priority. There are other things to consider that can kill you quicker if you do not see to them first. Dehydration can happen a lot quicker than starving so getting a safe drinking source is certainly more important than food initially. Another quick killer is your environment, you need to get some sort of shelter to protect you from the elements fairly quickly. This is especially true in cold environments, then a combination of shelter and warmth will become a top priority. Even in warmer environments shade will be essential to protect you from the heat. The point is to consider the bigger picture when assessing your survival necessities and make sure you prioritize accordingly.

Sucking The Poison Out Of A Snake Bite

Sucking The Poison Out Of A Snake Bite This one has been reiterated in pop culture and you will see it featured in a number of movies but it is a dangerous one. When a snake bites you the poison will likely also surround the wound so putting your mouth over the area will likely have nasty results for your lips and mouth. Not to mention when sucking the poison out if any goes down your trachea this can cause havoc on your own system and instead of having one person affected by the snake bite you now have 2. By sucking on an open wound you are also likely to worsen the injury which is also not helpful. Anti venom is the only real way to treat a snake bite so seeking medical attention is the top priority.

You Can Drink Water From A Cactus

You Can Drink Water From A Cactus A survival myth that has been passed down over the years is that if you find yourself in a desert you can always rely on a cactus to get some water. While a cactus is a succulent and it does store water it is not in a form that is helpful to hydrate us. A cactus contains water but not in a pure form but in fact it is a highly alkaline, noxious fluid. Drinking cactus fluid will very likely make you sick and vomiting will lead to dehydration so your intention could in fact be reversed and you could be in a worse situation.

Follow What Birds And Animals Eat And You Will Know What Is Safe For Consumption

Follow What Birds And Animals Eat Assuming that what birds and animals eat will be safe for you to eat is a very bad assumption. Birds and animals have all got different digestive systems and even if they can safely consume something it does not mean that it will be the same for humans. You may end up very sick or even dead if you select the wrong item. Unless you have some of your own botanical knowledge and you know for sure a plant is safe it is better to not assume what animals are eating are safe for you to eat.

Shelter Means Full Coverage

Shelter Means Full Coverage Many people feel they have to build full shelters including walls and a roof in order to have proper shelter. This is not the case. An improperly built structure will likely be less effective at protecting you from the elements which is the most important function of a shelter. Ensuring you put something together that protects you from the sun in the heat or exposure to the cold is the primary objective. Trying to build a fancy structure is pointless if it does not fulfill its purpose.

Rationing Your Water In The Desert Is A Must

Rationing Your Water In The Desert Is A Must While rationing your food and water in an emergency situation is sensible it is not always the case if you actually need it to survive. If you are in the desert and you need that water that you are rationing to stop dehydrating then keeping it for another day is pointless. A more sensible solution is to conserve your energy especially during the day when it is hottest and do more activity at night when it won’t take as much effort. Then you won’t need to use as much water at all.

Final Thoughts

Schumer Compares Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Confirmation to Jesus Christ’s Resurrection: ‘The Stone Has Been Rolled Away From The Tomb’ (VIDEO)

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) commemorated Easter Sunday by comparing judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation to the Supreme Court to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Jewish Demonrat began his address to worshippers at A.R. Bernard’s Christian Cultural Center Megachurch in New York City during “Resurrection Sunday” service by race-baiting and railing against former President Donald Trump. “My brothers and sisters, increasing diversity of all our federal judges has been one of my highest priorities,” Schumer said. “I’m proud to say under my leadership as majority leader, the first from New York, a majority of the new justices, judges, are people of color and two-thirds are women. These judges together with Justice Jackson are restoring balance to our judicial system that was thrown out of wack by Donald Trump and his vicious, nasty, and, sometimes even outright racists, appointed to the bench.” Justice Ketanji’s confirmation to the Supreme Court serves as a reminder that “even in the darkest times, there are bright lights,” Schumer said. “And this month, folks, we witnessed one of the brightest that we hope is a metaphor, an indication, a good omen of more bright lights to come, the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice KBJ.” Schumer then compared the appointment of Jackson, a judge notorious for leniency even in baby sex torture cases, to Jesus’ resurrection, declaring, “The stone has been rolled away from the tomb.” VIDEO: In October, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul gave a speech from the same pulpit at the Christian Cultural Center Megachurch urging worshippers to act as “my apostles” and get vaccinated. While Schumer compares Jackson’s confirmation to the resurrection of Christ, the newly confirmed Supreme Court Justice has a long history of giving the lightest possible punishments to pedophiles and perpetrators of child rape pornography. As the New York Post reported, in 2018, Jackson issued the absolute bare minimum sentence to Christopher Michael Downs who openly bragged about molesting his 13-year-old cousin. Downs was arrested for trading videos of child rape featuring toddlers as young as 2-years old. Jackson “acknowledged the average sentence nationally ‘for similarly situated defendants’ was 81 months, but she gave him the statutory mandatory minimum sentence of 60 months, which was short of the nearly six years prosecutors asked for,” the Post notes. Ryan Manning Cooper was arrested for distributing more than 600 images involving rape and torture of children including infants and toddlers. While presiding over Coopers’s case in April 2021, Jackson sided with Cooper, citing letters family members sent to her describing the child predator as “kind, hard-working, dependable, loving,” and concluded, “I have no reason to doubt those representations.” She offered the pedophile advice, noting, “There are going to be a lot of restrictions that the law places on you because you are a convicted sex offender, and you’re going to need the support of these people during this next phase of your life.” In 2009, Jackson, who has repeatedly argued federal sentencing guidelines for child porn are “outdated”  and “too severe” to justify light sentences for child sexual predators, was nominated by President Obama to vice-chair of the US Sentencing Commission, where she weakened federal sentencing policy for child pornographers.

Triple Amputee and Veteran Brian Kolfage Built More Border Wall than Biden and Obama Combined — So Democrats Dragged Him Through His Yard in the Rain and Charged Him with Fraud and Tried to Destroy Him

0

In 2020, in the few days between the Democrat National Convention and the Republican National Convention, the Southern District of New York (SDNY) used lawfare to put out a political hit on the We Build the Wall founders and President Trump.  The We Build the Wall campaign was an effort to build a Southern Wall while Congress prevented it from being built.

Note: This was a Republican Congress led by Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell for two years.

Steve Bannon, Brian Kolfage and two others raised over $25 million in private funds and began building sections of the border wall on their own. It was a great success. The group built miles of new border wall on the Rio Grande and in the Sunland Park area.  They built nearly four miles of new wall.  The Department of Homeland Security praised their efforts.

They built two sections for less than $25 million!  That sounds like a steal.  Can you imagine what it would cost the government to complete such a project?

The fact that Kolfage would dare to build a wall and prevent illegals from flooding the US Southern border INFURIATED Democrats and weak RINOs in Congress. So the SDNY decided to punish the organizers and steal all of their contacts and names of contributors. building the wall, and arrested the leaders in another terribly corrupt hit on individuals who supported freedom and President Trump.

New York sent 15 Postal Service Agents to Florida to arrest triple amputee Kolfage. They dragged him to their car in the rain without his wheelchair and forced him to pull himself into the vehicle with his one good limb.

Not one of the 15 USPIS agents even considered providing a vehicle that was wheelchair accessible for their arrest of triple-amputee war hero Kolfage. They drove all the way from New York and apparently never even considered the fact that Kolfage had lost three limbs in Iraq and was the most severely injured US airman to survive any war.

The team was working with the government on a new section of the wall when the SDNY indicted the We Build the Wall leaders.

Then they charged Brian and others with fraud for taking $350,000 in donations as salary for their work.

The group built more border wall than Republican or Democrat lawmakers had in several years. But the organizers took money to pay for their efforts and expenses while independently building the wall on the Southern border! So they needed to be punished.

On Thursday Brian Kolfage pleaded guilty in federal court to fraud.  He dared to build a border wall and needed to be punished.
