New Study Shows Chemical Found in Green Leafy Vegetables Can Slow the Spread and Treat Illnesses Caused by COVID-19 and Other Common Cold Viruses

According to a study led by Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, a chemical that can be found in green leafy vegetables such as broccoli could slow the spread and treat illnesses caused by Covid-19 and other common cold viruses.

Researchers at John Hopkins Children’s Center discovered from their lab experiments on mice that “sulforaphane, a plant-derived chemical, known as a phytochemical, already found to have anti-cancer effects, can inhibit the replication of SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, and another human coronavirus in cells and mice.”

“While the results are promising, the researchers caution the public against rushing to buy sulforaphane supplements available online and in stores, noting that studies of sulforaphane in humans are necessary before the chemical is proven effective, and emphasizing the lack of regulation covering such supplements,” Hopkins Medicine stated.

Sulforaphane can be found in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, both red and white varieties, bok choy, watercress, arugula, also known as rocket.

“When the COVID-19 pandemic started, our multidisciplinary research teams switched our investigations of other viruses and bacteria to focus on a potential treatment for what was then a challenging new virus for us,” according to Children’s Center microbiologist and senior author of the paper Lori Jones-Brando, Ph.D.

“I was screening multiple compounds for anti-coronavirus activity and decided to try sulforaphane since it has shown modest activity against other microbial agents that we study,” she added.

According to Alvaro Ordonez, M.D., the first author of the paper and an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, sulforaphane and remdesivir work better combined than alone is very encouraging.

“What we found is that sulforaphane is antiviral against HCoV-OC43 and SARS-CoV-2 coronaviruses while also helping control the immune response,” Ordonez said.

“This multifunctional activity makes it an interesting compound to use against these viral infections, as well as those caused by other human coronaviruses,” he added.

Read the summary of their finding below:

The ongoing SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has created the immediate need for effective therapeutics that can be rapidly translated to clinical use. Despite the introduction of vaccines, effective antiviral agents are still necessary, particularly considering the potential effects of viral variants. New oral antivirals targeting viral enzymes (e.g., molnupiravir and Paxlovid) have recently been approved or are in the process of review for emergency use approval by regulatory agencies, with many more currently under development.

However, this approach can be affected by the emergence of viral variants that change the affinity of the drug to the viral protein. An alternative approach is to target host mechanisms required by the virus to infect cells and replicate. Host-directed therapy is advantageous as it allows preexisting drugs to be repurposed, may provide broad-spectrum inhibition against multiple viruses, and is generally thought to be more refractory to viral escape mutations.

Following exploratory experiments using the in vitro CPE inhibition assay, SFN was identified as a promising candidate to target the host cellular response, given that it is orally bioavailable, commercially available at low cost, and has limited side effects. We observed that SFN has dual antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties against coronaviruses. We determined that SFN has potent antiviral activity against HCoV-OC43 and multiple strains of SARS-CoV-2, including Delta and Omicron, with limited toxicity in cell culture. The similar results observed between the coronaviruses evaluated suggest that SFN could have broad activity against coronaviruses, a feature that may prove invaluable as new strains of pathogenic coronaviruses enter the human population. Moreover, synergistic antiviral activity was observed in vitro between SFN and remdesivir against both types of coronaviruses tested; comparable synergism in vivo would be advantageous in clinical scenarios where remdesivir is currently being used. We demonstrated in vivo efficacy of prophylactic SFN treatment using the K18-hACE2 mouse model of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Prophylactic SFN-treatment in animals reduced viral replication in the lungs by 1.5 orders of magnitude, similar to that reported for remdesivir in the same mouse model. By comparison, BALB/c mice infected with mouse-adapted SARS-CoV-2 had a 1.4 log10 reduction in viral titers when treated with 300 mg/kg of nirmatrelvir 4 h after infection. As expected, SFN treatment also modulated the inflammatory response in SARS-CoV-2-infected mice, leading to decreased lung injury.

In summary, we documented that SFN can inhibit in vitro and in vivo replication of SARS-CoV-2 at pharmacologically and potentially therapeutically achievable concentrations. Further, it can modulate the inflammatory response, thereby decreasing the consequences of infection in mice when administered prior to infection. Given that SFN is orally bioavailable, commercially available, and has limited side effects, our results suggest it could be a promising approach for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 as well as other coronavirus infections. Further studies are needed to address these possibilities.

Is Russia on the Ropes in Ukraine?

0

If you are reading or listening to Western media outlets, they are painting a dire picture for Russia’s military in Ukraine. Here’s a sampling of headlines over the past four weeks:

TRENDING: “You’re Asking Me to Do What?” – Madison Cawthorn Talks about the ‘DC elites’ Having Orgies and Doing Cocaine (VIDEO)

Here is a true gem from the Daily Mail published on 14 March:

Forbes weighed in on March 15 suggesting that Russia’s tank force was being decimated:

  • The U.S. Department of Defense estimated that Russia was losing about 50 vehicles per day. On March 8 they put the Russian losses at “8% to 10% of military assets.” By Sunday they put the total vehicle losses at 184 tanks and over 380 other armored vehicles (a total of 564). Saying that this is more than 8% of Russian forces suggests they believe the grand total is much less than 10,000.

Not to be outdone in promoting hysteria, The Guardian insisted on March 22 that Russia was doing a Jackson Brown, i.e., Running on Empty:

  • Russian forces have only three further days of fuel, food and ammunition left to conduct the war after a breakdown in their supply chains, Ukrainian military commanders have alleged. . . . The report from the Ukrainian armed forces general command was said to be consistent with evidence that the Russian advance had stalled, and that they had reverted to using “indiscriminate and attritional” artillery attacks on civilians.

At what point will the American people and Europe wake up and realize they have been fed a steady diet of BS about what is actually happening on the ground in Ukraine. I have made this point in earlier posts–why do we not see any western reporters on the frontlines with the Ukrainian forces reporting on these magnificent triumphs? Because it is a chimera–i.e., an imaginary monster compounded of incongruous parts.

The most recent victory declaration from Ukraine touts “victories” in pushing back the Russian horde from Kiev. This assumes that Russia’s objective over the last three weeks was to capture Kiev and hang Zelensky from a bridge.

Let me suggest an alternative explanation. Russia’s encirclement of Kiev over the past three weeks was intended to pin down a significant portion of what remains of Ukraine’s military forces so that Russia could carry out offensive operations in the east and the south. Mission accomplished.

Some of the Russian units that were deployed around Kiev are now moving east towards Kharkiv. Russian forces have destroyed the Ukrainian neo-Nazi entity that controlled Mariupol. Russia now controls Mariupol. Let me put this in simple strategic terms–Russia has eliminated any possibility of Ukraine being able to use the Black Sea for ship-borne imports or exports. Ukraine is now cut off in the south.

Russia’s next focus will be on the Ukrainian forces that still exist in the Donbas and Kharkiv. Eliminating them is the likely next objective.

One comment regarding Russian casualties. If Russia had suffered massive losses, the wounded and dead would be flooding back into Russia. There is no way that Russia could hide such losses, if real, from parents, siblings and spouses. Field hospitals just inside the western border of Russia would be filled to overflowing. And decimated units would be pulled from the fighting to refit and rebuild. NONE OF THAT IS HAPPENING.

Instead, Russia continues to maintain large reserves on its western border and the units that carried out the invasion remain intact. At the same time, Russia controls much of the air space in Ukraine and continues to hit Ukrainian bases and fuel depots in the extreme western portion of Ukraine.

The propaganda effort in the west has been very effective in persuading masses of Americans to believe Ukraine has a chance at beating Russia. But this belief is not tied to any facts from the battlefield.

I know some analysts and pundits believe that Russia’s use of sophisticated missiles that are precision weapons, is a sign of Russian desperation. But I see it differently. First, it gives the Russians a real battlefield to prove their capability. Second, the use of these missiles has exposed NATO’s inability to defend against them. Third, hitting logistic centers and fuel disrupts NATO efforts to help Ukraine restock, rearm and gather more troops. Fourth, these strikes keep the West worried about Western Ukraine while ignoring what will happen in the Cauldrons created in the east.

This is not the first time that the U.S. military has misread the intelligence about enemy plans. Remember TET? The Viet Cong and the North Vietnamese Army unleashed a massive, countrywide offensive in January 1968 that shocked U.S. military commanders and the American public. While U.S. and South Vietnamese military forces ultimately quashed the attack, it was done at a terrible cost and played an important role in building anti-war support in the United States.

We should know in the next few weeks if Russia is a spent force or if western media has been deceiving itself and the public it is supposed to serve. I have seen no evidence that Russia is struggling or bogged down. It is moving deliberately, decisively and forcefully. Just ask the survivors of the Azov battalion (if there are any).

Idaho Governor Brad Little Vetoes Legislation that Seeks to Protect the Unvaccinated

0

Idaho Republican Governor Brad Little vetoed a bill on Monday that would protect the unvaccinated from the vaccine requirements imposed by business owners until at least 2023.

In his transmittal letter, Governor Little claimed that Senate Bill 1381 “significantly expands government overreach into the private sector.”

“I have been consistent in stating my belief that businesses should be left to make decisions about the management of their operations and employees with limited interference from government,” Gov. Bill stated in his letter addressed to the president of the Idaho Senate, Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachin.

“For the same reason, I sued to stop President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandates three times, successfully challenging his unprecedented government overreach into the lives of American workers and the decisions of free businesses,” he continued.

Governor Brad Little Vetoes… by Jim Hoft

Senate Bill 1381 passed by the House on March 18 with a 45-23 vote, two absent. The Legislature could override the governor’s veto; it would require a slim margin of one or two more votes in the House, per Idaho Capital Sun.

If the bill becomes law, the vaccine requirement for employees will be prohibited and violators will be punished with not more than a $1,000 penalty.

Legend: Trump Hits a Hole-in-One on Florida Golf Course

President Trump Monday evening said he hit a hole-in-one at his Florida golf course on Saturday while playing with “legendary golfer” Ernie Els and others.

“Look, it’s there,” Trump said as he pointed to the golf ball.

“Let’s get a picture, you don’t see that often,” he added.

“Many people are asking, so I’ll give it to you now, it is 100% true,” Trump said in a statement.

“It took place at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida on the 7th hole, which was playing 181-yards into a slight wind. I hit a 5-iron, which sailed magnificently into a rather strong wind, with approximately 5 feet of cut, whereupon it bounced twice and then went clank, into the hole,” Trump said.

“These great tour players noticed it before I did because their eyes are slightly better, but on that one hole only, their swings weren’t,” he added. “Anyway, there’s a lot of chatter about it, quite exciting, and people everywhere seem to be asking for the facts. Playing with that group of wonderful, talented players was a lot of fun.”

A little compare and contrast…

Here’s dummy Joe Biden trying to golf last year (the ball went behind him):

Biden Caught in Another Bold-Faced Lie – His Administration Said He Watched Ketanji Brown Jackson Hearings – Biden Says He Didn’t (VIDEO)

0

It is getting so bad that now seemingly every day Joe Biden and his Administration are caught in another lie.  It’s bad.

Last week it seemed that every day Joe Biden was caught saying one or more things that were shocking and needed to be addressed by the gang running his Administration.  It got so bad that the foreign press is calling him “frail, doddery and confused”:

“The Words ‘Frail, Doddery and Confused’ Really Do Apply to the Resident of the White House” – Foreign Press After Biden’s Visit to Europe

Everything that Biden says now must be vetted by his handlers.  Last week Biden claimed US troops were going into Ukraine and Putin should be taken out.  Every day his Administration was dealing with statements like this.

TRENDING: “You’re Asking Me to Do What?” – Madison Cawthorn Talks about the ‘DC elites’ Having Orgies and Doing Cocaine (VIDEO)

In a video in a tweet released yesterday as reported at Twitchy, Biden says that he never watched the Katanji Brown Jackson hearings.  But his staff claimed that Biden did watch the hearings and claimed he:

…watched portions of judge Jackson’s hearings yesterday and today… Her dedication to following the facts, the law, and our Constitution, as an independent judge is clear. He was also moved by the grace and dignity she has shown…

These people are so dishonest they are now caught in major lies seemingly every day.

Russian Foreign Ministry Releases Alleged “BioBiden” Timeline of US Bioresearch in Ukraine

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marija Zakharova has published a timeline of US-Ukraine bioresearch, which Gateway Pundit documents here for  purposes of critical analysis. Note:  Bear in mind any information published by the Russian government in wartime must be viewed with extreme caution.

1991 – the US launches the Nunn-Lugar programme for the former Soviet countries to control/eliminate Soviet weapons of mass destruction including bioweapons. The Pentagon’s Defence Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) was named as the programme’s main executor.

1993 – the Ukraine-US Agreement on the Prevention of Proliferation of WMD is signed.

2005 – an additional protocol is signed to the agreement between the Ukrainian Health Ministry and the DTRA on the prevention of the proliferation of technologies, pathogens and know-how that can be used to develop bioweapons. This is the start of the transfer of the Ukrainian military biological potential into US specialists’ hands.

2000s – large US military-industrial companies are engaged in military biological activity in Ukraine.

2005-2014 – Black & Veatch Special Projects, a DTRA contractor, builds and upgrades 8 biolabs in Ukraine instead of eliminating military biological infrastructure, as was originally claimed. One of the facilities, a biolab in Odessa, has been financed since 2011 for the study of “pathogens that can be used in bioterrorism attacks.”

2007 – US DoD employee Nathan Wolfe founded Global Viral Forecasting Institute (subsequently – Global Viral), a biomedical company. The mission stated in the charter is non-commercial study of transborder infections, including in China.

2009 – Rosemont Seneca Partners is established by former US Secretary of State John Kerry’ stepson Christopher Heinz and incumbent US President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden.

2014 – anti-constitutional coup d’etat in Ukraine.

2014 – Hunter Biden joins the Board of Directors of Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy company.

2014 – Metabiota, a private commercial organisation specialising in the study of pandemic risks is detached from Global Viral. Neil Callahan and John DeLoche, employees of Hunter Biden’s company Rosemont Seneca Partners are appointed to the board of Metabiota. Global Viral and Metabiota begin to get funding from the US Department of Defence.

2014 – Metabiota shows interest in Ukraine and invites Hunter Biden to “assert Ukraine’s cultural & economic independence from Russia”.

2014 – Metabiota and Burisma Holdings begin cooperation on an unnamed “science project in Ukraine”.

2014 – Metabiota, Global Viral and Black & Veatch Special Projects begin full-fledged cooperation within the US DoD programmes.

2014-2016 – Implementation of Metabiota and US DoD contracts, including a $300,000 project in Ukraine.

2016 – US citizen Ulana Nadia Suprun, a descendant of Ukrainian Nazis, is appointed Acting Health Minister of Ukraine. The US DoD and Ukraine’s Health Ministry cooperation programme is greatly expanded.

2016 – an outbreak of swine flu among Ukrainian Defence Ministry personnel guarding a biolab in Kharkov, Ukraine; 20 dead. The incident is hushed up.

2016 – former US Assistant Secretary for Defence Andrew Weber is appointed head of Metabiota’s global partnerships department.

2016 – EcoHealth Alliance, a Global Viral founder Nathan Wolfe’s structure, is engaged in the study of bat-transmitted coronaviruses at the research centre in a Wuhan laboratory, China.

2016 – the DTRA and Ukraine’s Health Ministry extend the contract after getting approval from the Ukrainian Defence Ministry.

2019 – the COVID-19 mutated bat coronavirus pandemic begins with an outbreak in Wuhan.

February 24, 2022 – launch of the Russian Army’s “special operation” in Ukraine.

February 24-25, 2022 – rapid elimination of strains in biolabs in Ukraine.

March 8, 2022 – US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland openly acknowledges the existence of cooperation between the US and Ukraine in pathogens”.

Early Warning Signs of Workplace Violence

0

Yousef Badou is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and one of the leading experts on the subjects of behavioral profiling and situational awareness. He was instrumental in the creation of the USMC Combat Hunter program, which helped Marines recognize and prevent developing threats from insurgency groups overseas. You can read more about his background in our Spotlight interview, but suffice to say he has substantial experience picking up pre-disaster warning signs. Yousef recently wrote an article on EmergenceDisrupt.com titled “3 Warning Signs of Workplace Violence,” and it contains three early warning signs of an active shooter or other mass-casualty event at your workplace.

We’ll share a few relevant excerpts from Yousef’s article below, but we encourage you to read the whole thing if this subject interests you.

1. Gathering Specific Supplies

It’s not uncommon for an attacker to stockpile weapons and ammunition in preparation for their assault. In fact, this is could be one of the earliest warning signs that someone may be planning to launch a violent attack. If you notice someone making or stockpiling firearms, knives, or other weapons, it’s important to view their behavior within context and relevance. Are they an avid hunter or sports shooter where these supplies would be normal? Or are they loading a deer rifle into their vehicle on a Tuesday morning of a school day?

More specific warning signs of workplace violence and dangerous behavior include seeing an employee or other person with supplies like chains, handcuffs, or any other material meant to lock doors, restrain someone, or tie something down.

These are items that might typically be purchased in military surplus stores, security stores, spy shops, construction, or hardware stores. The key is to spotting these items is to always be aware of levels of appropriateness to a situation. Examples of active shooter bags and kits to look out for would be, seeing someone wearing a tactical military bag in a church service or carrying a hockey bag at a school with no hockey team.

Metal gun parts tend to poke through materials and can rip through or leave a visible print or bulge on the outside of an active shooter bag or jacket. If an active shooter has filled the bag with a lot of ammo, explosives, or guns it can sometimes creak and crease at the shoulder straps and look very heavy.

If you see a person at your workplace with anything like that, trust your gut feeling. They are a definite cause for concern and should be scrutinized more deliberately.

2. Practicing The Attack

A practice run is one of the last few steps before the actual attack begins, so it’s important to know this and take precautions if necessary, like letting security know of their presence and what you’ve seen them doing at the business. Active shooters will sometimes practice their assault before carrying out an act of workplace violence. This could involve target shooting or even staging the attack itself.

Above: In 2007, an unarmed 19-year-old entered a department store in the Omaha Mall, scanned for a few moments, and left only to return 6 minutes later with a rifle to begin shooting.

It’s important to remember that not all practice is bad – many people enjoy practicing martial arts or firearms for sport. However, if you see someone who is practicing in a violent or destructive manner, this is definitely a cause for concern.

In 2007, an active shooter killed 32 people and wounded 17 others in a mass shooting at Virginia Tech. Prior to the shooting, the killer had been diagnosed with a mental illness and was deemed a danger to himself and others. In the weeks leading up to the massacre, the killer began behaving strangely and stockpiling weapons and ammunition. He also sent violent threats to his classmates and professors.

One of the final events the active shooter conducted was to go to a local gun range and bought multiple life-like paper targets and laid them face down on the floor of the range. He then proceeded to walk between them firing the two pistols he was holding into the targets. This event was noticed but the witnesses did not share the information thinking it was just another “odd” customer.

3. Verbalizing Threats or Making Odd Comments

One of the easiest ways to identify an active shooter before they strike is by listening for any verbal threats or comments. In many cases, attackers exhibit strange behavior, act manic and out of control, make menacing comments, or talk about their plans prior to carrying out the assault. This may be in the form of written threats or warnings, online posts, in-person, or another form of communication that they can deny when confronted.

If you notice someone making repeated threats, violent comments about wanting to hurt other workers or managers, or bragging about their plan, it can be a warning sign of a serious problem. These types of statements are warning signs of workplace violence. They should not be ignored and should be reported to authorities immediately.

if you see any of the following exhibited by any employee at your workplace, you must take the important step to alert security before any violent act can occur.

  • Bullying other workers in the workplace
  • Starting rumors and showing a high degree of pettiness
  • Problems with drugs and alcohol
  • Marked changes in their personality
  • Inability to accept blame or follow procedures
  • Showing disdain for most people, especially managers and authority figures
  • A noticeable negative change in their attitude towards their jobs, your business, managers, or other employees

How to React to Warning Signs of Workplace Violence

If you are threatened by someone, it is important to remember to stay calm and try to get as much information as possible. Ask the person making the threats what they plan to do and why they are doing it. It is also important to try and get a description of the person making the threats, including any identifying information such as tattoos or piercings. If possible, take pictures or videos of the person making the threats. Once you have gathered as much information as possible, it is important to report the incident to authorities.

No one ever expects to receive a threat in person or on social media, especially from a fellow employee at their workplace, but it can happen to anyone. Do not ignore these kinds of warning signs. If you receive a threatening message from another person, the next thing you do is the most important step to keep yourself safe. Don’t retaliate or respond to the threat. That could make the situation worse. Instead, save the message and any other evidence, block the person who sent the threat, and report the threat to security at your workplace or to the authorities, if necessary.

Mainstream Media Completely Ignores New Developments In Hunter Biden Scandals

Scandals are piling up around Hunter Biden and the media is not interested in the slightest. The major networks have not even mentioned Hunter’s name in months. Do you think they would ignore these scandals if they involved one of Trump’s kids? There’s no way they would. FOX News reports:

ABC, CBS, NBC ignore Hunter Biden scandals, haven’t mentioned his name in 259 days, study says

Morning and evening newscasts on ABC, CBS and NBC haven’t uttered the name “Hunter Biden” in 259 days despite ongoing scandals surrounding the president’s son, according to a study by the Media Research Center.

“It has now been 259 days — 37 weeks — since July 12, 2021. That’s when any of the corrupt network newscasts last uttered the words ‘Hunter Biden.’ Scandal after scandal, nothing seems to shake the determination of the ABC, CBS, and NBC morning and evening news shows to keep the public from knowing about the President’s wayward son and his sketchy financial and foreign dealings,” MRC research director Scott Whitlock wrote.

Whitlock analyzed ABC’s “Good Morning America,” “World News Tonight,” CBS’ morning offerings, “CBS Evening News,” NBC’s “Today” and “NBC Nightly News” and discovered zero mentions of “Hunter Biden” since last July.

While the broadcast networks have avoided Hunter Biden at all costs, the president’s son has been mentioned by other news outlets.

The New York Times confirmed earlier this month the authenticity of Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop, which he left in a Delaware repair shop in 2019 before it was turned over to the FBI by the repair shop owner.

It must be nice to be a Democrat. The media is protecting Hunter because Joe is a Democrat. That’s pretty much it. Cross posted from American Lookout.

2022 Oscar Viewership Second-Lowest Rated in History

0

Sunday night’s Oscars viewership was the second-lowest rated in history.

According to Deadline, Oscars 2022 only had 15.4 million viewers, a 56% increase from 2021’s abysmal ratings.

Deadline reported:

Moving up a bit from the preliminary data, the 2022 Oscars now is estimated to have had 15.4 million viewers and snagged a rating of 2.9 among adults 18-49.

TRENDING: “You’re Asking Me to Do What?” – Madison Cawthorn Talks about the ‘DC elites’ Having Orgies and Doing Cocaine (VIDEO)

Apples to apples with the same metrics, that’s a 56% increase in audience over last year and 68% in the important demo. However, even with what looks like big leaps over 2021, the 2022 Oscars are still the second-lowest in history.

Still, coming off the least-watched and lowest-rated Oscars ever from last year’s pandemic protocols hybrid affair, the real goal was to get the numbers up to help justify the Disney-owned network’s $100 million annual license fee it pays out to the long-struggling Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences event.

The 2021 Oscars ended up with around 10.4 million viewers and a rating of 2.1 for its 8-11:10 p.m. ET show.

Three unfunny female ‘comedians’ – including Amy Schumer, the portly, unattractive relative of Chuck Schumer, took jabs at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for supporting an anti-grooming bill.

Will Smith slapped Chris Rock after he made a joke about his wife’s bald head (although many say it was staged).

Will Smith was later awarded best actor and got a standing ovation from the Hollywood deviants.

If not for the Will Smith-Chris Rock drama, virtually nobody would have known the Oscars were even on Sunday night.
