The second year of a planned five-year Atlantic salmon rearing project on New York’s Lake Champlain is underway, according to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. A cooperative plan with multiple agencies, including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Trout Unlimited, and at least two colleges, seeks to improve survival of stocked salmon released into the wild.
“Atlantic salmon is a prized native fish and a critical component of the ecosystem of the Saranac River Estuary in Lake Champlain,” DEC commissioner Basil Seggos said in a statement. “With the ongoing support and commitment of our partners, DEC’s innovative pen rearing program is improving the salmon population and enhancing the potential for increased spawning, bolstering future opportunities for New York anglers.”
Six net pens will hold Atlantic salmon smolts at docks at the Plattsburgh Boat Basin on Lake Champlain’s Cumberland Bay for three weeks starting in April. This will improve salmon smolt survival by allowing the young fish to “imprint,” or become familiar with, their stocked water environment. Salmon biologists believe such imprinting is important because stocked salmon return to such locations when they mature for future successful spawning.
According to DEC, two groups of 26,000 Atlantic salmon smolts will be used to compare and evaluate net-pen rearing methods and their effectiveness. One group of young salmon will be placed into net pens in the Saranac River estuary, where they’ll be held for three weeks prior to release as smolts into the wild. Another group of 26,000 young Atlantic salmon will be stocked directly into the Saranac River Estuary when the net pen smolts are released. This will allow experts to compare the two groups for survival and maturing of salmon to verifying if pen imprinting is viable for the Lake Champlain fishery.
The Dwight D. Eisenhower National Fish Hatchery is providing Sebago strain of landlocked Atlantic salmon smolts and fish food for the project. DEC is handling smolt transportation and net pens. Volunteers from TU and college students will monitor fish during feeding and in their release.

The Galveston National Laboratory – a project of Anthony Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases – entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Wuhan Institute of Virology, granting the Chinese lab the right to make its American counterpart “destroy and/or return the secret files, materials and equipment without any backups.”
The National Pulse has previously unearthed the Texas-based lab’s multi-year collaborative relationship with the Wuhan Institute of Virology, including hosting exchange programs and training researchers at the lab’s Biosafety Level 4 (BSL) facility. Directors from the Wuhan lab and the Galveston National Laboratory, which describes itself as “constructed under grants awarded by [Fauci’s] National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID),” have admitted to working with the “world’s most dangerous pathogens” in 2018.
The news comes amidst controversy over Antony Fauci’s role in funding bat coronavirus research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology – a relationship that newfound documents appear to show extends beyond American partners like Peter Daszak’s EcoHealth Alliance. The lab is also believed to be the source of COVID-19 according to many public health and intelligence experts.
In addition to private emails from Fauci obtained by The National Pulse, new internal documents obtained by the government watchdog group U.S. Right to Know (USRTK) confirm the existence of the program and provide more insight into the agreement between the two labs.

The Florida House passed a bill Thursday to eliminate the special district that allows the Walt Disney Co. to self-govern its Orlando-area theme park, sending the measure to Gov. Ron DeSantis for his signature.
DeSantis, a Republican, called on the Legislature to back the measure during its special session this week. House lawmakers passed the bill in a 68-38 vote after the Senate’s 23-16 vote on Wednesday.
The legislation would dismantle Disney’s special district on June 1, 2023. The district, which was created by a 1967 state law, allows Disney to self-govern by collecting taxes and providing emergency services. Disney controls about 25,000 acres in the Orlando area, and the district allows the company to build new structures and pay impact fees for such construction without the approval of a local planning commission.

A Mexican woman died from asphyxia while climbing over a border fence in Arizona during an attempt to illegally enter the United States.
Federal agents found 32-year-old Griselda Verduzco Armenta hanging from the U.S. side of the 30-foot-tall steel border fence on April 11.
The woman reportedly used a ladder to climb to the top of the fence but on her way down, a harness she was wearing became entangled, causing her to become stuck and choke to death while hanging upside down.
According to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, Armenta “climbed onto the top of the International Border wall and when attempting to maneuver down on the U.S. side via a harness similar to rappelling, her foot/leg became entangled and she was trapped upside down for a significant amount of time.”
In an interview with Telemundo, Verduzco’s cousin claimed coyotes, migrant smugglers, were helping her cross the border but abandoned her when her foot and leg became trapped.
“The coyotes tried and tried to get her down, but they couldn’t,” the relative said. “And, well, they left her there for their own safety, also, I think, so that [immigration authorities] wouldn’t arrest them. And they left her there hanging – she was still alive.”
Verduzco, who leaves behind two daughters, a one-year-old and a nine-year-old, previously tried illegally entering the U.S. to fulfill an “obstinate dream,” securing a better future for her children, her cousin continued.
“One says it’s better over there and everything,” the relative said. “But I say no.”
Attempts to resuscitate Verduzco failed and she was taken to a hospital in Bisbee, Arizona where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
After conducting an autopsy, a local medical examiner determined she died of asphyxiation as a result of hanging upside down for a prolonged period of time.
Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels issued a statement warning, “These types of incidents are not political.”
“They are humanitarian realities that someone has lost a loved one in a senseless tragedy. We have to do better in finding solutions to the challenges facing our border, and we have to do it for the right reasons,” Dannels said. “Regardless of opinions, it is the facts that should direct our progress and we will keep working towards a shared goal of border safety and security.”
Meanwhile, the Biden administration continues to welcome illegal immigrants into the country with its open border policies.
According to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a total of 59,011 immigration violators were removed from the United States in the fiscal year 2021, Biden’s first year in office. A total of 185,884 immigration violators were removed in FY2020, comprising roughly a 70-percent decrease in deportations in just one year. The decrease in deportations under the Biden administration is compounded by the fact that Donald Trump was still in office during the first four months of FY2021 when approximately28,000 deportations occurred.

The witness tells us Mike took a selfie with him … and then was patient with his overly excited buddy, who kept trying to talk to the 55-year-old fighter as he sat behind him.
Eventually, though, we’re told Tyson had enough of the guy behind him talking in his ear … and told him to chill. When the guy didn’t, that’s when the witness says Tyson started to throw several punches at the man’s face.
