Calling Runners, Artists: Tracksmith Now Accepting Applications for ‘Creativity in Sport’ Fellowship Program

Are you an artist, photographer, videographer, designer, or other type of creator? It’s time to embrace the idea of creativity in sport.

This week, Boston-based Tracksmith announced it would continue in 2022 with a second installment of its annual Fellowship Program, first launched this year. The Fellowship Program aims “to support runners with creative ambition,” said Tracksmith’s Fellowship Program Page.

In 2021, Tracksmith received more than 350 applications and ended up funding six projects in podcasting, sculpture, film, photography, music, and urban design. The projects run for a year, and upon completion, are shared with the Tracksmith and broader running community.

“Our goal is to provide a platform for emerging creatives in running, offering both the funds and support needed to pursue a project that will elevate the sport and drive conversation,” wrote Tracksmith. “We’re proud to continue this program for a second year in 2022.”

Fellowship Program: How to Apply

Tracksmith invites anyone to submit a concept for a creative grant. The application process requires a statement of the project idea, medium for the project, budget, and a link or example of a portfolio of work (as an artist, photographer, etc.).

“These ideas should be grounded in the runner’s experience, with the aim of inspiring and igniting action within the larger running community,” Tracksmith noted in the application.

The 2022 applications opened this week and close on September 5, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Tracksmith will notify application finalists in early October and announce the fellows in November 2021.
