It’s exciting perusing exotic overland vehicles for sale, and for many of us, including myself, there’s an undeniable attraction to the weird and wonderful. However, whilst unusual vehicles may have a certain je ne sais quoi, they’re not always the sensible choice. Truthfully, it’s the vehicles you see every day, depended on by tradesmen, rental companies, emergency services, and couriers, that should be on our radar. These vehicles might not be the most unique, but parts are readily available, known faults are well-documented, and a wealth of online resources are at your fingertips. I know this is all pretty hypocritical from a guy who lives in a 1986 Vanagon Syncro, but not a month goes by where I don’t ponder what life would’ve been like if I’d bought something more reliable.
The Mercedes Sprinter has become very popular, both commercially and recreationally, and with good reason. The Sprinter is recognised internationally for its everyday dependability, performance, long-lived engines, and fabled international parts and services network (although, be prepared to dig deep for that luxury). Therefore, it’s no surprise that the 4WD variant has become a very popular choice among overlanders. A huge selection of aftermarket parts further bolsters the Sprinter’s already impressive all-terrain performance. This week we’re looking at one such example, which showcases a beautiful Winnebago camper conversion.
From the owner:
“Well-cared-for 2019 Winnebago Revel, based on a 2017 Sprinter 4X4 diesel. Original owner, purchased April 2018. The van features a Pebble Gray exterior, Silver Springs interior, and no graphics. All recommended maintenance and recalls have been adhered to. Overall, the van is in excellent condition and includes many modifications, such as five Method wheels with larger size 275/70R17 BFGoodrich KO2 tires, which are great for off-roading. Additionally, the Sprinter benefits from an Agile Offroad RIP kit, WeBoost cell booster, Alpine digital receiver, ARB onboard air compressor, and much more.”
