Biden-Backed Candidate Loses Race To Primary Challenger

Rep. Kurt Schrader has lost his race to liberal primary challenger Jamie McLeod-Skinner. Schrader was backed by Joe Biden.

Jamie McLeod-Skinner got 57.1% of the vote while Schrader got only 42.9%.

The Epoch Times reported:

Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.), a moderate who has gone against his party on several occasions during the 117th Congress, has been ousted by progressive Jamie McLeod-Skinner.

However, despite his opposition to President Joe Biden’s earlier policies, Biden—who has since his State of the Union address increasingly tried to project a moderate image—ultimately backed Schrader.

There were major issues with the vote-counting in this race after voting machines rejected ballots with blurry bar codes.

This caused a delay in the results.

From OPB.org:

The vote count in the state’s 5th Congressional District was significantly delayed due to ballots with blurry bar codes in Oregon’s third-largest being rejected by vote-counting machines. Workers in Clackamas County had to transfer votes by hand to fresh ballots so they could be tallied. That work is still underway and clerk Sherry Hall has come under fire for the delayed results.

Joe Biden’s name continues to spell bad news for Democrats.

His average approval has sunk to 40.4% in the Real Clear Politics aggregate poll.
