TFB Review: Wilson Combat P320 Compact Grip Module

In the world of modular handguns, nothing really is as customizable as the SIG Sauer P320 system. As many of you know, I am quite a fan of building up P320 handguns with different aftermarket parts. Just a couple of weeks ago, I posted about the new Micro Comp from Parker Mountain Machine. While testing out the Micro Comp, I also installed my first grip module from Wilson Combat. As many of you know, Wilson Combat makes some phenomenal handguns, and I figured I would try out one of their P320 grip modules to see how it was. Let’s take a closer look at the Wilson Combat P320 Compact Grip Module.

TFB Review: Wilson Combat P320 Compact Grip Module

Specs

Wilson Combat’s P320 grip module isn’t a super-high-speed expensive metal grip but rather a really well-thought-out polymer replacement grip module for SIG P320s. The biggest difference between the Wilson Combat grip module and other grip mods is the contouring and texturizing present on the Wilson Combat’s grip. They really wanted to develop a comfortable contoured grip that fills the hand of shooters better while offering a texture that grips your hand but isn’t too aggressive.

The overall grip design matches the higher-end Wilson pistols and gives a standard P320 a more pleasing look while offering improved ergonomics and a better palm swell. Currently, Wilson Combat offers their P320 grip modules in Full size, Carry, and Compact sizes. For this review, I decided on the Compact grip module. Wilson Combat includes a replacement SIG magazine release button with each grip module, so you can keep your original grip module intact and have two sets which is a big plus since taking them out can be a pain for someone who’s never done it. MSRP on the grip modules is $67.95 and they are available in either black or tan colors. If you’re interested in the tungsten weight to reduce recoil, Wilson also sells that for an additional $18.95.

Range Time

I’ve had the grip for a couple of months now and chose the compact model since it takes the smaller 15-round magazines. This is the easier option to conceal carry, but since the P320 takes all the regular magazines, you can run the 17-round magazines as well as the larger 21-round magazines. The Wilson Combat P320 Compact grip module was drastically different in my hand than other options I’ve felt before. The slight palm swell really does make a difference for people with larger hands like myself. Whenever I used a traditional P320 and then switch to the Wilson Combat grip module, it just feels like a more natural grip than other options.

Grip Feel and Performance

Shooting with the Wilson Combat P320 Compact grip module is an extremely comfortable experience. The biggest takeaway I’ve noticed during my range sessions is the traction and how planted the gun feels in the hand while not being overly aggressive. At first, I was slightly concerned it may tear my hands up but I’m happy to report I’ve had no issues with any sort of discomfort with this grip module. Wilson Combat did a great job adding small details that don’t seem like much but end up being a better experience for the shooter.

One of my range sessions was a dreary Michigan spring day with a steady drizzle of rain. For most people, it would have been a good day to stay in and skip the range day. I decided to head out and shoot a few magazines through my P320 to see exactly how well the grip texture does once things are drenched in rain. For this test, I decided to try out the Wilson grip module both in my wet hand as well as with gloves on. Both times the grip module gave me a really solid purchase on the firearm and I had no issues keeping a firm grip on the handgun. Out of all the P320 aftermarket grips I have tried, the Wilson Combat P320 Compact grip module probably offers one of the biggest bangs for your buck on the market today.

Carrying With the Wilson Combat Grip Module

Over the course of a month, I decided to carry the Wilson Combat P320 Compact grip module installed on one of my P320s and see if the grip texture was abrasive or if it was a good option for daily carry. The compact size allows you to still carry a 15-round magazine that fits flush while having a smaller footprint to conceal on your body. One feature which really surprised me was the fact they specifically designed the frame to fit into a standard P320 holster which is a huge plus.

The amount of holsters you can use with this aftermarket Wilson grip module is wild. I tried every Kydex holster I owned and had zero issues fitting into a standard P320 holster which is a huge plus for aftermarket support with the Wilson grip module. After carrying this full time for over a month, I can happily report it’s an extremely comfortable grip and I had no issues with the texture tearing up my side or having any issues with comfort at all. I don’t think there’s much to worry about with these grip modules when it comes to carrying concealed. Wilson Combat really thought their grip module through and it definitely shows with holster fitment and overall comfort while carrying with it.

Overall Thoughts

Out of all the grip modules on the market, I have to be honest and say the Wilson Combat grip module offers the biggest bang for your buck with the overall fit and finish. The high-quality polymer design with a full-blown MSRP of $67.95 makes this grip module one of the best in its price brackets and genuinely one of my favorite grip mods available on the market. Add in the ability to carry in any standard P320 holster and this thing is a true winner to me.

What do you guys think about switching out parts on a P320 and making it the best possible firearm? Is it best to keep it 100% factory or is it ok to switch things on such a modular pistol? Let me know what your thoughts are about it down in the comments below.
