Davide Pedersoli have expanded their line of 86/71 lever action rifles with the addition of the new 86/71 Droptine. Like some of the 86/71 Boarbuster models, the Droptine combines the classic Winchester 1886 pattern action with modern features. The company describe the new rifle as a harmonious blend of nostalgia, aesthetics, and modern functionality.
Davide Pedersoli @ TFB:
The elusive and rare drop tine deer is the result of abnormal antler growth, characterized by the downward development of one or more tines on either or both left and right racks of antlers. Typical of extremely long-lived animals, drop tines are attributed with shrewdness and cunning and the ability to escape the aim of predators and hunters alike.
The Pedersoli 86/71 Droptine rifle is chambered in .30-30 Winchester and has a magazine capacity of five rounds. The rifle features a 19″ Pedersoli PMG barrel that has a 5/8×24 threaded muzzle and is fitted with a fiber optic front sight and a Scout Rifle-style Picatinny rail that has the rear iron sight integrated into it. The CNC machined steel receiver is drilled and tapped for adding a Pedersoli offset side scope mount that allows having a regular eye relief scope without interfering with the upward ejection of spent cases.
The polymer furniture of the 86/71 Droptine rifle has a tobacco color and its metal parts have a matte black finish. The stock comes with a Microcell butt pad installed and has a cheekpiece that can be adjusted both vertically and horizontally. The horizontal cheekpiece adjustment feature is added to allow having a comfortable cheek weld with the offset scopes. The Pedersoli 86/71 Droptine rifle also features an enlarged lever and manual safety. The overall length of this rifle is 37.4″ and it weighs in at 8.4 lbs.
As of writing this article, there is no information on the price of this new rifle and it can’t be found on the Italian Firearms Group‘s (US importer of Pedersoli firearms) website.
